Description: Whits is a mainstay of the Kensington dining scene, attracting locals with its relaxed ambience and imaginative array of modern European classics. The pleasant restaurant interior, with its bright skylight and elegant ironwork, adds to the welcoming vibe, while dishes use ingredients often obtained directly from France to enhance the regularly changing menu.

We found this restaurant on Trip Advisor and had reasonably good expectations. They were surpassed. The staff upon entry were friendly but not overly so. They offered us a choice of tables. The menu provided a lot of choice, many of the starters had shell fish and as I allergic, I asked if we could mix up the menu choosing from the fixed and moving back to the a la carte, NO PROBLEM. My friend ordered the grouse, the waitress politely asked if she had ever tried it before, she hadn't, the waitress gave a very good description of the dish just to make sure that it would be suitable. Apparently it is not to everybody's taste. My friend loved it. I had the duck and it was amazing.
My advice on desert is try the Banana Souffle - it is to die for. Wines were extremely well priced.
We will definitely return

We have been to Whits on previous trips and have reviewed it before. I am pleased to report that they are maintaining a high standard of cuisine and service. We went twice on this trip, both times on a Saturday, but despite the fact that the restaurant was full, the service was faultless. The starters are particularly imaginative, but everything is well done. The wine list is small, but well chosen and the wine is very reasonably priced. Eva, one of the owners, explained that they keep prices reasonable because they want people to be encouraged to order a better wine that will suit the cuisine. I wish more restaurants would adopt that philosophy. The room is comfortable and the noise level is not excessive. Exactly to my taste. Overall, highly recommendable and prices are significantly lower than for comparable West End establishments. If you are staying in the area, you definitely should reserve and treat yourself.

The meals were nicely cooked, but our choice for one of our main courses was not to our tastes. Both the starters and deserts were lovely, particularly the lemon soufflé. Atmosphere was pleasant and the meal wasn't rushed, even though we had eaten the starters and mains reasonably quickly we spent at least 20 minutes before we were asked about deserts and just felt very relaxed about it.

Great restaurant, visited it couple of times over the last couple of years, and always happy with everything. Great food created with skill and imagination, one of my favorite places for sure. As mentioned -a bit pricey, but you get good quality food for it.

We owe a debt to trip advisor for prompting us to book this for our 20th wedding anniversary. Eva is the perfect host; attentive without being overly so and excellent at judging when to offer advice on what to choose and have a friendly chat. The atmosphere is smart without being stuffy and very cosmopolitan.
We ordered the lobster ravioli and oriental salmon and crab with wasabi and really savoured the excellent flavours - oh and washed it down with a beautiful Puilly Fume. The rack of lamb and seared tuna were cooked to perfection and wonderfully flavoured - the tuna had a piquant salsa. We really didn't need the assiettes with lemon and the raspberry soufflés, tarts and sorbets as we had been fed well but as everything else was so delicious we thought it rude not to!! We washed it down with an exquisite glass of Sauternes.
Somebody said get there before the prices go up when the Michelin Star is awarded - they are right the food is far beyond the reasonably priced menu and the service is top notch.
My only 2 grumbles: adding service to the bill automatically and putting a noisy and rodomontade woman next to us when there was plenty of room in the rest of the restaurant.
