We sat on a very comfortable sofa for pre-dinner drinks in the bar beside the dining room of this gastro-pub. My meal was excellent and so was the service and the atmosphere. As might be expected for the location it is not cheap.

Stayed in the flat upstairs for a few days and visited here twice. Comfortable, reasonable and great advice given.

We wanted something close to our hotel, the Ashburn, but wanted it to be really good- and we are picky. This family owed pub- restaurant was wonderful. We loved everything we ordered. Request a booth for the most comfortable seats and I would reserve .

We enjoyed the Abingdon very friendly staff and customers, a really buzzy place for a drink, and maybe eat if you fancy a meal.

I’ve been meaning to write a review of the Abingdon for some time but never got round to it.

To my mind it’s one of the most pleasant gastro pubs in central London and in an area with surprisingly few good alternatives, especially mid-priced ones (W8 and Launceston Place are both swankier).

The service is unfailingly welcoming and friendly. Yesterday I ordered a bottle of wine which turned out to be very disappointing (a poor Torrontes- hairspray with notes of sweet elderflower cordial!) and the lovely manager wrote it off without a moment’s hesitation.

Food is reliably tasty - duck, cod etc- and on a warm day there’s nowhere more agreeable than an outside table on the quiet street. Drinkers are welcome and there are lots of regulars. Keep up the good work !
