“Very weird, insipid Pub”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

We decided to walk around Knightsbridge Station, and then thought to get a beer and something to eat. The are does not seem to have many pubs, (although they have several Lebanese and Syrian restaurants), and one of the options on Yelp was Grenadier. We chose it because it was suppose to be the closest one. We had no idea what to expect, which is the opposite of most other reviews I have read. It was hard to find, but finally we got there. Around 6 p.m. on a May evening, it was starting to get full. The beer and wine selection is normal, nothing fancy, nothing different from other Pubs. The food, bland, insipid and boring. We ordered some sandwhiches and some snacks. The bread was just regular box bread! The most simple tasting olives I have tried. So, in short, food was insipid and boring. What about the environment? Awkward. People dressed as if it was the 1920s. I thought they were actors from a cheap show around the corner, but no, this are, I realized later, rich people with bad manners and worst taste. Why is it important to say they are rich? Because they behave as they know better, based on their money I guess, and in reality look only ridiculous, with weird hats, extremely puffy ties. One thing is trying to look elegant, and the other is to look strange because you leave in a bubble. Dirty bathrooms as well. Anyway, don't know what is the fuss about the place, maybe because a bunch of drunk soldiers beat to death their own comrade because he was cheating playing cards, which says a lot about the original customers. There are hundreds of pubs better than this one, don't be distracted by the touristy description.

“Excellent time”
Reviewed 23 May 2014

We were brought here during our London Black Taxi tour and it was an excellent choice. It's very much off the beaten track so you have to know where it is to get there. The place is small, the employees very personable and the food was great. Completely enjoyed the time there.

“Hidden Jem....”
Reviewed 21 May 2014

Watch out for the ghost!! Our cabbie Steve Norris of London cabbie tours.com introduced us to this great hidden pub.
Great hospitality, service and beer. This is like stepping back in time to the traditional English pub. Dozens of after work folks out front enjoying a pint and the atmosphere inside is very welcoming.

“Great pub for an after work drink and good conversation”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

I didn't try the food but pubwise this is a great spot!

I'ts cozy, relaxed and there's no loud music so you can you can have a great chat without having to scream. The decoration gives it a pretty cool atmosphere and you feel like you just found one of London's hidden secrets.

“Great Historic Pub”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

My wife and I enjoyed a very good meal of traditional pub food (angels on horseback, fish & chips) at this charming historic pub. The pub feels like stepping back in time, and the service and other patrons were very friendly.
