Lovely food and incredibly attentive waiting staff. We have visited a few times and have never been disappointed, but this time they really went all out to make my in-laws feel special on their Golden Wedding anniversary. The restaurant tables were already set beautifully but Louis the manager was happy for us to arrive before our booking and add our own banners, balloons etc to add to the surprise. Nothing was too much trouble and we all had a brilliant evening. Hunters ticks all the usual boxes for a good night out, but it's well worth a call in advance, as they will do their utmost to accommodate your needs.

Honest to goodness food, service and wine. Okay, yes, you could call it 'old fashioned' but in a good way I think. Friendly attentive waiters, complimentary bread, butter, olives etc., on the table; a good choice of starter from escargots to taramasalata and prawn cocktail with all the usual suspects in between. Excellent range of entrees, pasta, fish, steak, veal, chicken and the list goes on. Also a really good 'value for money' set menu if preferred. Huge range of desserts, chocolate and Turkish delight complimentary with coffee; and mints with the bill. Lovely touches. We had a ball.

The restaurant is nice - plenty of room, starched tablecloths. Slightly dodgy decor. The service is attentive without being overbearing. The food is OK - rather old-fashioned and stodgy. Scallops and bacon was a bit unsubtle - it was literally just that - four scallops completely overpowered by two slices of bacon. Had to pay extra for potatoes and vegetables - a bit unusual these days I think. The coffee wasn't great. There's nothing wrong with a menu with traditional dishes - in fact that can make a nice change - but you need to execute them with a bit more panache and skill than you get at Hunter's.

Had a lovely meal at Hunters of Cockfosters. We have been here many many times & never disappoints.

We went on a Sunday night, loud music playing, had a real great party feel. One neighbour did come down & complain at the noise/music. But it was 22.30 on a Sunday night so I can understand. Noise pollution & all..

Would come again.
