This is difficult as three of us had dinner, just appetisers and a main course. The food was very good and well priced. The staff were, individually, great. However it was so disorganised, we had to wait for everything. They served the wine then placed it at another table almost on the other side of the room. We had to ask for more wine. Either serve it properly or leave the wine at the table.
My main problem is with the ambience of the restaurant which did not suit me at all. I thought the decor was depressing and we had a table in a corner of the room with a view of a closed serving area. This aspect ruined the meal for me and I will not be returning for this reason. However this is very subjective and if I were to judge the restaurant just on the quality of the food I would recommend it.

Dear Patriciabarton,

Thank you for posting your review on tripadvisor about your experience at Petrichor earlier this month. Am very happy to hear that you enjoyed the food with us and must apologise if you felt that the service levels were not up to scratch. We are looking at refurbishing the restaurant at some point next year as we want to improve the ambience and give the restaurant a more modern feel.
Hope you are willing to try us again then

.....award an rating. More than 3 Star experience but not quite a 4 star.
Have eaten here twice ...once in a group of 6 and then in a group of 8 both on weekend nights. We wondered were everyone was.....I guess.....Good value considering the location. Food was good although not memorable, service attentive. Ambience should improve with the renovations. Now why did I go back for another meal....someone else booked!

Dear Walpolepark11,

Thank you for your feedback and it is good to hear that you thought the service was good and that we offered Value for money. Its a shame that you did not think the food was up to scratch, would you be able to tell me what the issue was? This way I can speak with the chef to look into it. My email is roy.sommer@thecavendishlondon.com.
We are planning to make changes to the restaurant next year as we agree that the ambience could be better.
Hope you will give us another go

Had afternoontea this saturday. The setting was awful. Brown boring carpet, gloomy due to the lack of any kind if daylight. It was like sitting in a basement. The service nice and that's about it. The scones warm but dry and crumbly. The sandwiches fresh but with no twist at all. But for 20 pounds maybe one shouldn't expect more.

Dear Sommarcatta,

Thank you for your comments in regards to our afternoon tea and apologies if you felt our lounge area not up to standard. We have recently done some work to the lounge and are looking to do further works later this year early next year to potentially get some daylight in.
This goes hand in hand with the Chef creating a NEW afternoon tea menu which should be coming in the next couple of weeks.
Glad you liked the service though.

We had booked a dinner for 5 on a weekday night. Our party was late but the restaurant was very accommodating of that.
The menu is really nice, and they have quite a few things on the menu to suit all tastes. Our party had various items from meat to seafood to veggie food. All of us thoroughly enjoyed the food. And the Salmon deserves a special mention.
The service was efficient, and yet not too intrusive. And the deal we had made it very good value for money.
We shall definitely return.

Eating here, well very good, sometimes innovative food and value for money as London goes, service as expected is also top notch. Easy and comfortable. The breakfast is a choice of buffet or excellent Al a carte. However at times it's rather hectic with guests in shorts and " holiday clothes"

I have recently been next door to Fortnum and Mason, much more sedate.
