Description: Award-winning Gaylord Restaurant in Londons NoHo is a restaurant of tradition. The Mughal-based cuisine is centuries old, while the paneled, classic dcor of Gaylords dining rooms has the fine-dining ambience of a restaurant of the last century. Near the Broadcasting House and half of Britains media and film companies, The Gaylord restaurant is a favourite haunt of familiar faces. The old-fashioned service keeps the dining room humming as customers enjoy dishes like biryanis, tandooris, tikkas, vindaloos in fact, all the favourites that have earned star status on the national cuisine, and at reasonable prices. Part of a small international chain, The Gaylord feels like a one-off.

“An uninspiring experience”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

My wife and I visited Gaylords on an Amazon Local voucher which was good value. The shared starter was small and fairly uninteresting and we had to ask for poppadums which incurred a £3 cover charge for just 2 poppadums. The shared main was very tasty and while being quite spicy it didn't contain much chilli. Despite using a voucher we received a bill which added a third for the poppadums and gratuity. It's worth bearing this in mind if you are trying to just pay the voucher price.

The service was incredibly slow and the head waiter showed no personality and was very functional. The restaurant lacked ambiance and it was not an enjoyable experience. We would not go there again and would not recommend it to our friends.

“Food is great - but expensive”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

It's a lovely restaurant if you want a treat. The staff are brilliant and have a sense of humour. The food is very good. The wine starts at £19.00 (ish) for a bottle and goes up from there. The tables are beautifully laid out. Go with your Tastecard - but that will only get you a 241 on a main - so it doesn't bring the price down that much if there are two of you. I'd imagine the rent isn't cheap and that's why you pay more.

“Tasty food but a little expensive”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

Gaylord, is a good restaurant, which seems to have stood the test of time. It is always quite busy and the food is also quite good. The flavours are clean and authentic.

The service is a little slow, so if you want to be in and out relatively quickly this possibly is not the place for you.

The management, seem to pay more attention to certain guests, I do not know if they think they will spend more money or what, but it is not a nice feeling.

Despite this, I will be back for the food!

“Decent food, indifferent service, overpriced”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

38 GBP per person for 1 course is really too much. The menu pricing for the fish curry seemed just a little high at 18 GBP, but add on 6 for lemon rice, 3.50 for naan, 4 for a bottle of water, 2.50 per person service charge for just sitting down, and 12% mandatory tip, and suddenly, you're into pricing that should go with a much better meal. Don't get me wrong: the food is good, but not near good enough to justify the pricing, even for central London. We were steered there by a concierge, because I wanted curry, but I regretted making my friends go there. I wish I had looked at the reviews before going...

“Ok but expensive. Service was a bit rude.”
Reviewed 9 May 2014

The food was fine. But unfortunately was extremely overpriced. A decent curry house would usually be half this price. The bill worked out at £50 per head. My fish was very late to the table with no compensation, a free popadom would have sufficed. And don't order a cocktail here, it's overpriced and badly executed.
Disappointed and we will not return. There are lots of lovely places to eat with slightly better value for money in Soho.
