Not your average food menu but wines are beautifully picked to suit food. Pigeon, rabbit, mackerel to name a few.

Went for the plaice, beautiful, just like the white!

Always busy so be quick to get a table, both at lunchtime and in the evenings. Rustic food, can be hit and miss depending on what you choose and the season. Fantastic wine selection and great place to catch up with friends. Always buzzing with life

For wine-lovers this is a perfect place.
Large selections of wine by the glass. The food is good and also good value.
We were in the Summer of Riesling month so we had a flight of 3 glasses (75 ml each) for 10.50 GBP.

I've previously "quite liked" Vinoteca. It's great to have another place that takes wine seriously, and the food has been good, but nothing like in the same league as many of the other venues I attend.

However, in my last couple of visits in 2014, the standard of food seems to have risen a notch.

I was very impressed with the Bavette that I had one lunchtime (and this was in a large party of about 12 people). So rich in flavour and texture just perfect for me.

Oh, and the olive oil is top notch, too.

The other thing I'd like to single them out for praise on is their cheese & biscuits. Particularly the biscuits which are quite chunky homemade ones. Very short yet cheese-friendly. On this matter, I'm amazed that blogger "cheese and biscuits" didn't even try them!!

The private room downstairs has a large square table which just about permits conversation among a group of about 12 people - unusual to be able to do that. It does get a bit warm in there if the aircon isn't working though (which was the case on one occasion back in 2012).

They do rustic food very well here (things like Cassoulet) and they make a fine foil to high-end wine (which fancy food tends to fight).

If only I could get the recipe for the biscuits....

I love Vinoteca. I would go so far to say the restaurant is my favourite in London. Why? Because it has a cafe style ambience, is in one of the nicest parts of town from a foodie perspective, is a wine-shop come restaurant.

The food is really good. Have the Bavette - you won't be disappointed. The wine matching is exceptional and you can buy the bottles to take home at the wine shop prices.

You can't book, but whilst you wait you can enjoy the extensive wine list at the bar.

Bliss
