Description: Not many restaurants have a loyalty scheme, which just goes to show how very loyal Rowley's long-time regulars happen to be. The room is traditionally British, but also informal and relaxed. The menu changes monthly, and always features Rowley's tremendously good char-grilled entrecote steak or breast of Sussex chicken with herb and butter sauce and endless chips. The trad Caeser salad is also terrific. Short, intelligent wine list and the sun-dried tomato chutney served with the cheese is just right. Great for business lunches, or pre- or post-theatre.

The steaks were great as were the chips. The puddings were also good. Best of all was the service, the staff were fantastic and did not hurry us at all. I would definitely eat here again.

Service just about adequate, steaks the same. Starter of beetroot salad was tasteless, prawn cocktail swamped by sauce. French fries no better than the many good chain restaurants. An expensive way to experience a very average meal in a crowded and noisy environment. No sense of occasion whatsover.

Second visit, using Amazon local voucher for the chateaubriand. Said chateaubriand was extremely good, although we were denied the vegetables that Amazon say are included. Purchased little gem salad which was very pleasant. Although service excellent, not the same as when chips were served from large tray rather than in buckets. Wine also excellent and reasonably priced.
Now to the desserts. I had the chocolate bombe that is sooo good, it defies description. Cannot recommend highly enough. Hubby had damson and almond tart which was a great disappointment. It was nothing more than a stodgy bakewell tart with damson jam. The maitre de brought more jam but it was not a dessert that should feature on such a stunning menu

Returned to London for the weekend to celebrate a birthday. Great welcome followed by an evening sampling outstanding dining coupled with excellent service. Compact menu that covers all tastes. Excellent presentation. We will be back.

Don't get fooled by the positive reviews. This place relies on its location in Mayfair and nothing more. Terrible food and terrible service and a way over priced for the experience you get. After a comedy of errors with our meal the manager offered us a discount on my wife's apple juice and one scoop of ice cream. After dropping almost a £100 it was embarrassing. You couldn't pay me to frequent this establishment again.
