Description: Not many restaurants have a loyalty scheme, which just goes to show how very loyal Rowley's long-time regulars happen to be. The room is traditionally British, but also informal and relaxed. The menu changes monthly, and always features Rowley's tremendously good char-grilled entrecote steak or breast of Sussex chicken with herb and butter sauce and endless chips. The trad Caeser salad is also terrific. Short, intelligent wine list and the sun-dried tomato chutney served with the cheese is just right. Great for business lunches, or pre- or post-theatre.

Fantastic atmosphere generated by Monica and the team here. Go for the steak and endless chips and you get to cook it yourself.

We had the ‘famous’ entrecôte with Roquefort butter. Arrives in chafing dish. Ordered rare. Came blue. Side - Brussels sprouts w ham which was very good. Chips ok. Wine list pitiful. Had Berry’s Good Ordinary Claret which was only the noun: thin and young. Service OK but when will these people get over themselves and their 12.5% service charge?

We arrived at 5.15pm and walked in, only to be ushered straight back out into the freezing cold rather rudely by a foreign gentleman saying in "open 5.30" who promptly locked the door behind us.
I must say if we could have got a table elsewhere and were not tight on time because we were going to the theatre we would have, as it was definitely not a good customer experience.
Went back at 5.25pm and two of the female staff were just coming out to have a cigarette and they locked the door again.
When we were eventually allowed in the manager and front of house team were very polite and all three courses were very good, so all in all after the poor first impression they did redeem themselves with the food and table service.
We would go back but just not early (it might be an idea if booking confirmations informed guests that the restaurant doors are not open until 5.30pm as it might avoid it happening again).

Decided to treat myself as it was my birthday and was very pleased indeed. I had no doubt that the food would be good, friends have been recommending this place to me for years, and it certainly was. What struck me, however, was the overall professionalism of the waiting staff - they were amazing and Rowleys should count themselves lucky they have them. Overall a wonderful dining experience. I recommend them highly and will definitely return. 10/10.

We came here for my 21st birthday dinner before the theatre, the Chateaubriand steak was excellent, the service attentive and friendly and the claret was divine.
I love the feel of this place, classical London restaurant yet with a down to earth feel, the meal was informal yet amazing- can't wait to come back.
