Description: Not many restaurants have a loyalty scheme, which just goes to show how very loyal Rowley's long-time regulars happen to be. The room is traditionally British, but also informal and relaxed. The menu changes monthly, and always features Rowley's tremendously good char-grilled entrecote steak or breast of Sussex chicken with herb and butter sauce and endless chips. The trad Caeser salad is also terrific. Short, intelligent wine list and the sun-dried tomato chutney served with the cheese is just right. Great for business lunches, or pre- or post-theatre.

We booked for an early New Year's Eve dinner for 4. The e mail communication was first class , speedy replies and helpful with our timings etc.
Then we get to the food, we all had whitebait and scallops, just great !,,,,
We then all had chateaubriand, cooked slightly differently, rare and medium. Arrived perfectly, yes it is served on a hot stone so can continue to cook a little
, so a tip would be maybe to go down a grade, so a medium maybe order medium rare, you can relax in the wonderful atmosphere while it slowly comes to your liking.

Food was more than excellent, cooked by a really pleasant lady who chatted to us as we left.

Food was equalled by the excellent service. We had 2 ladies, sorry not sure of names, but both were European I m sure. They were just perfect, just the right amount of service but so professional. They chatted after our dinner and are a serious asset to the business and the overall dining experience.

A must visit if you are in the area, it will be on my list whenever I'm around.
It is a really nice part of London and not to missed. Enjoy !!!!,

Rowley's restaurant is in historic premises in Jermyn Street, St James's. It's been Rowley's since 1976 but goes back way before that to 1790 when Richard Wall was apprenticed to a pork butcher in the nearby St James's Market. He developed the business and it became the famous Wall's butcher's shop, a company still renowned for their family's sausages. Rowley's menu is mainly for hearty meat eaters, although there are a few dishes for non-carnivores (Battered cod, Mushroom & spinach risotto etc). Here you will find aged cuts of entrecote steak, rib eye, fillet and cote du boeuf and the British chicken supreme. We tried the excellent Chateaubriand, a whole fillet of beef, sliced and presented in a pan to keep hot on a burner on the table. With a garnish of beef tomato and watercress, it is presented with an inexhaustible serving of fries. A great meal for connoisseurs of beautiful beef - you just can't beat it because it is so good.

Had pre booked. Arrived at 5.30 left well before 7 pm. Meal was not rushed. Service efficient. We had starters of fishcake and whitebait, both delicious. The Rowley’s speciality steak followed, both cooked as requested. Could be pricey but we had a 2 for 1 rail deal !!!! Worth investigating !

I have been here a number of times. It is a steak house and the food is always good. It is a nice experience as you are able to complete cooking your meat at the table. The chips are plentiful :-)
This time I called in for lunch. It was not too busy but still quiet lively. The tables are not very generously sized but there is room enough. The service is friendly and efficient.
The deserts are good and there is a good selection of wine.

Rowleys has been around for quite sone time. It is located in old, historic premises on jermyn street. Original ornate tiles to walls. Very traditional decor. Intimate dining on this small restaurant specialising in beefsteaks. Tables have the crispest of large cotton white napkins! Staff ore lovely- efficient and friendly service for our pre theate meal of chataubriand which was cooked to perfection and left to rest, in pan, on a burner in the centre of our table.served with endless string chios and a garnish of water cress and tomato. Meat was so tender and excellent quality.
