Description: Not many restaurants have a loyalty scheme, which just goes to show how very loyal Rowley's long-time regulars happen to be. The room is traditionally British, but also informal and relaxed. The menu changes monthly, and always features Rowley's tremendously good char-grilled entrecote steak or breast of Sussex chicken with herb and butter sauce and endless chips. The trad Caeser salad is also terrific. Short, intelligent wine list and the sun-dried tomato chutney served with the cheese is just right. Great for business lunches, or pre- or post-theatre.

I had a business lunch here and enjoyed everything. Chicken liver pate followed by a Filet steak and unlimited fries. All was very good and the portions were large. They bring the steaks pre sliced in a frying pan which is left on a burner on the table and the waitress returned a couple of times with more fries.

It is not cheap but well worth the money. Highly recommended.

This was my first visit to Rowleys. A lovely restaurant in a central London location with the feel of a French bistro.

Steak and frites à volonté are their speciality and so that is what we had. Very pleasant it was too but when the bill comes to over £150 for two with only one modestly priced bottle of wine then it should be really excellent. So not bad at all but I doubt I will return.

Good food, good location, good ambience.
Cold staff.

It would be perfect if the staff could look as if they enjoyed their work and really cared about their customers.

£213.00 for a 3 course meal with 2 x 500ml carafes of wine and average service. Stunned by their charges and lack of service as the unlimited chips were not available when I asked for a first and only top up. Wine prices were a joke, £36.00 for a 500ml jug of Rioja and then 12.5% service on top!! Never again will we step foot over the threshold of this establishment. The £9.00 for the cheeseboard was the final insult as 3 tiny pieces of cheese appeared. We paid the bill to a totally uninterested person and then left without even a thank you for coming or even a goodbye.

Dined here one lunchtime using a Travelzoo voucher which was for a chateaubriand to share along with fries and a side. The meat was cooked to our liking then served on a sizzling plate on the table. It was cooked to perfection and had no fat. Excellent. Would definitely return. The staff were charming.
