Description: This nineteenth-century, Grade II-listed pub was once called the King of Prussia, before it changed its name to this altogether more-patriotic moniker shortly after Edward VII's death in 1910. It's known by locals today as the King Eddie. It's been sympathetically renovated but remains divided by ornately tiled walls and frosted-glass dividers. There's a sunken bar, too, as well as a dark-wood saloon bar, a back room and a little patio out back. Beer is a focus, with draught options including Deuchars IPA, Timothy Taylor's Landlord, Adnam's Broadside and Hopback Summer Lightning. There's food of a gastropub bent, too – think dishes such as confit duck leg, steak and chips, and posh burgers.

The management were very helpful when arranging my charity night that I hosted at their establishment. This was helped by them being very responsive to emails.

On the night, the staff were friendly, approachable and helpful. This added to the smooth running of the overall event, which enabled all to enjoy it.

We were disturbed a few times by members of the public coming to the toilets (and sometimes hanging around without buying a ticket), so it might have been helpful to have some signage on the doors saying it was a private event and where the toilets were. But otherwise no problems!

Thank you to everyone at the King Eddie’s!

Visited today and he pub was overwhelmed with rugby supporters and the staff were under immense pressure. They did, however cope very well and were very attentive once they had the chance. We had some lunch and the food was good. Will definitely return
