Description: The march of very, smart, modern and intriguing eastern restaurants in London continues apace with the arrival of Koba, handy for the Dominion, the British Museum, and all the booty of furniture-design-land around NoHo. Koba offers a lovely dining room with minimalist decor in a style that's very now. The Korean menu includes its speciality of table BBQ, as well as beautifully-presented dishes like Samsaek milssam(korean style wrapped pancakes with meat & vegetables stuffing) to start. Next go for the BBQ of Koba modeum gooi(grand assortment of meat, prawn & vegetables) or try something different such as yookhwei dolsot bibimbap(steam rice with raw beef & vegetables in a korean stone pot) or busut mandoo jeongol(mushroom casserole with dumpling & various mushrooms).

“Your friendly Korean”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

My new place to go when alone in London in a need of something fast and good. Lovely Tofu, Softshell Crab, Kimchi, Korean Pancakes - or if you like you can have your BBQ on the grill at the table. Nice cocktails too (or vine if you fancy - I found them well matching with the korean food). Friendly service.

Reviewed 24 May 2014

I visited Koba with a bunch of friends. we tried the bulgogi, kimchee pancake, bbq assorted meat special, bibimbap and kimchee soup with steamed rice. i love the chicken bbq, bulgogi and kimchee. abit disappointed towards the kimchee pancake, also we have to pay for the lettuce! there is room for improvement for the service.

“Excellent meal”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

I visited Koba with my husband and we were very pleasantly surprised by the food there. We have lived in Korea before and our bulgogi barbecue and bibimbap were fantastic. However, I was quite taken aback by how much we had to pay for the lettuce, which usually comes free in Korea.

We were very kindly served by a pretty half-Japanese waitress, who patiently showed us how to wrap the meat with the lettuce because we had actually forgotten how to do it. Her service was excellent and overall we had an enjoyable night. It really reminded us of our times in Korea.

“Wonderful Korean in British Museum area...”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

We are purveyors of Korean food everywhere we travel and were pleasantly surprised by Koba. The staff are friendly and the space is warm and inviting. The restaurant is clean and spacious with nice Skylight giving lots of natural lightingt. As you know, many Korean restaurants spend little time/effort on decor/ambiance.

The food was authentic and good. We were there for Saturday Lunch and the flavours and price point is excellent. We'll return and wish them continued good luck in their efforts! Enjoy!

“Let down by service”
Reviewed 6 May 2014 via mobile

We were really excited about coming here after all the hype about Korean food at the moment. We arrived and asked what they would recommend we order. We were told by the waitress that she was new so didn't know (not a great start). Someone else came over who looked at us all blankly as we asked what she would recommend. Seriously?!! So in the end we did it ourselves and opted for a mixed Korean BBQ with the salad leaves and sauces. Also some other spicy sides and a special rice dish with egg and vegetables (Bibimbap I think!) The food was fantastic and great to cook and share at the table. The house Sauvignon wine was surprisingly good too. If they had sorted the service out it would have been brilliant. We had to ask for our rice as they had forgotten and ask for the bill 3 times. It is not cheap and they had automatically added service, which they didn't quite deserve. Great food but please sort out your customer service! As a result we wouldn't return
