“Ideal Location and Friendly Staff”
Reviewed 13 January 2014

My mum and I stayed here to watch the Lion King musical. It's in a great location with everything you need near by (tesco, places to eat...) and it was very clean and tidy. Really friendly staff, especially the receptionist from Brazil...(feel awful that I've forgotten his name!?) who was giving out free hugs! Would definitely go there again.

If you don't want to stay far away from central london, you can check into Travelodge. There are multiple options from Travelodge nearby as well. The economy rooms are very small, well maintained and heated. Internet is a cost option. Breakfast menu is very very limited, better to get something from tesco. Tea/ Coffee making equipment and materials are topped up everyday.
The place scores high only because of the location.

Friday night stay in December for £43 (don't forget to check for vouchers before you book - found a code which gave another £5 off what was already an excellent price) - 2nd floor but facing inwards so no noise and a good nights sleep. Room large and bright and clean. Used self service check in to avoid a queue and placed my key on leaving in the box on an empty counter. I did say hello to a cleaner on my way out otherwise would have had the bizarre experience of staying a night in a hotel without ever speaking to anyone who worked there

We came from NZ and used this as our base while travelling London. It was central, comfortable and practical with the adjoining cafe. Great value for money. The reception was warm, a little bit chaotic, though they compensated any inconvenience and we appreciated that. Location was ideal, room size adequate for 2 adults and 2 children. The free wifi in the restaurant was handy also. We'd absolutely come again!

For a weekend sightseeing stay, I really don't think you can get better value for money than Travelodge. Paid £45 for a Saturday night the weekend before Christmas. Check in was quick and the person on reception was friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and modern. It was lovely and warm and the bed was massive and soooo comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room and a flat screen TV. We had a room facing the main road outside, but really did not notice any noise. Tube station is only a short walk away. Only thing that seemed odd, but was not really an issue for us was that many of the coffee shops / sandwich bars on the road nearby were closed middle of the day on a Saturday, but I figure that they probably do most of there business in the week being in the financial area of London. We also visited the museum of London which is walking distance from the hotel. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Stopped for two nights between Christmas and New Year. Really great rate for London, and the property is very convenient for all the tourist attractions.
Good clean, spacious rooms, with great beds. Friendly service, but the reception area is a little chaotic, and people seem reluctant to use the machines for simple check in. I heard no noise from the inside, and just the faint noise of the buses outside. We had a good nights sleep each time.

What a good position. Tesco Express underneath and Subway opposite. Loads of pubs and restaurants nearby, but remember this is ‘the City’ and some places are closed at the weekend. Easy for public transport, bus stop outside, and Old Street (exit 4) and Moorgate tube just five minutes away.

I have stayed at this Travelodge before and it’s a good Travelodge.
So long as you know the Travelodge offering, it’s a good budget/ mid hotel option.
Its one of the refurbished travelodges, and the first time I have stayed in one of the new look/ refurbished rooms.
The main bonus are the new sleepezee matresses- they are so much more comfortable than what you used to get in a Travelodge. The hotel offers a breakfast area which seemed well used, we used it on one of our two mornings.
There are 2 tube stops 5 mins away and whilst this area is quite at weekends being near the city, its so central no where is too far away on the tube.
I’d stay here again. My positive rating is based on comparing amongst budget/ mid range hotel options.

Room Tip: We asked for one looking down the street, high floor. Note some overlook a central large courtyard s...
