“Central, great for travelling around London..”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014

We stayed here for four nights in July whilst visiting Hyde Park for the Sabbath Concert and Wimbledon.
The hotel is in a great position within easy walking distance of both Moorgate and Old Street Tubes as well as Liverpool Street Station.
The room was clean although very warm with no view. No hairdryer and not enough towels.
The staff at the bar were very helpful although there was a distinct lack of service at certain times. Late on they seem to be doing reception, cooking and serving and it does get busy.
If you don't mind basic and are travelling around London you cant fault this hotel.

My partner and I have just returned from a 2-night stay here, to attend a family graduation. Very good price for London and close to tube stations. The new beds and pillows are really comfortable and the hotel bar sells possibly the cheapest bottle of wine in London. My partner liked the breakfast buffet, which was eat all you can. The staff were helpful and responsive, especially in the hotel restaurant, when my chicken was undercooked and had to be sent back. Unfortunately we were there during the recent heatwave, and with temperatures reaching 30 degrees plus, the room was unbearably hot. It was also extremely noisy, especially on the Thursday night when what sounded like building works went on all night. This travelodge is located on a very busy road, so expect noise from constant traffic and even refuse collectors during the night.

Room Tip: Rooms facing south get the full sun all afternoon so become unbearably hot. Higher floors will be fu...

I hadn't stayed in a budget hotel before this so I wasn't sure what to expect, the reason I chose it was because of its central location and I was in London for one night out only, I thought why not save the money. Even though I was only there for one night I was impressed with many aspects of the travelodge, fair enough it isn't anything special if that is what you are looking for but it is certainly everything you need for at least a few nights stay in London. The staff were friendly, checking us in to our room within a few minutes and the room we paid next to nothing for was spacious, clean and well laid out. I was particularly impressed with the TV, free WI-FI and shower facilities and how they were better than some four star hotels I have been to. If I am traveling to London again for a short stay I will definitely consider returning

Room Tip: A standard double is very spacious and cheap, definitely enough room for two, even for a couple who...

Nice hotel with a very good location. Walking distance from Liverpool Street. Brick Lane and Trumans Brewery are just around the corner.

If you book well in advance the price can be really low.

Tesco24 and Sainsbury's are close-by, so if you need a snack late in the evening you can always find something there.

Disappointing stay at Travelodge Central London City Road. We had booked online through a hotel company and on arrival the staff couldn't find our booking.
Instead of helpful, efficient staff, they all seemed much more interested in talking to one another about their weekend than finding our booking. The staff members seemed to have no idea what they were doing (even though they said this happens regularly!). They were shouting across the room, running back and forth and dealing with other customers mid-way through our check-in and entire process was a major shambles.
The room (once found) was spacious and comfortable, but excruciatingly, unbearably hot. No air-conditioning in any of the floors, lifts, or bedrooms. 1 small, slow fan was not ideal.
Location was good, close to Old Street underground station (2 stops to Kings Cross) and short walk to Shoreditch which is great for a night out.
Breakfast was average, but plenty of choice with hot food, toast, cereal, pastries, juice and coffee and tea. Hairdryers and irons are available from reception - you will have to carry the ironing board through the hotel as no help is offered by staff.
Good location but wouldn't stay again due to unhelpful staff and unbearably hot rooms!

Room Tip: Be aware that the room are not air-conditioned, and therefore are VERY HOT! Request a room on the 1s...

Good value hotel with good bus service outside the front door. Very friendly, helpul staff. The room was fine, the breakfast was decent if a little busy.
Due to it's location you have to go some way to find somewhere to eat at weekends as the pub & 2 Italian restaurants in the same road only open during the week. There is a very good Turkish place if you turn left outside the hotel, walk to the main road, then go right & it's on the right....Best Mangal.Very handy for a visit to the excellent Columbia garden market in Hackney.
