“Basic but clean. A good location for visiting in London”
Reviewed 21 August 2014

I stayed here on the 19th August for one night. Check in was very quick and we were allocated a room on the 4th floor. We chose this specific Travelodge because it was our cheapest option for a decent hotel that was clean and within easy access into London - it's less than a 5 minute walk to and from Old Street tube station, which was very simple to get to (along a main road) and took less than 10 minutes to get into the centre of London on this tube.

The room isn't anything of luxury, but for the price, pretty decent. The hotel has a bar downstairs and serves drinks till quite late which was a plus for us, especially after arriving late from a long journey.

One thing that stood out to me about this hotel was the the fact that guests need to use their room card to access the hotel and the corridor with the rooms on, so it prevents anyone wandering the streets at night coming into the hotel. We felt safe.

In conclusion, this is a great budget, friendly hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a cheap and cheerful place to stay in London, as it is tonnes cheaper compared to the other hotels in this city.

Stayed here for 4 nights in March and we were very happy with it! The rooms are lovely and clean, the staff on reception are friendly and helpful!

The good was really nice too, we had breakfast here 2 mornings and it was lovely, all you can eat. We had dinner here twice too and both times it was lovely. We so had late night pizzas every night which were of course amazing! Doug on the bar was so friendly and helpful as well he was great.

Hotel was 5 mins walk away from the tube and from there we could go anywhere!

Stayed in the travelodge recently for two nights, Patrick at the bar was fab, he gave me great travel advice and even gave me a free drink as I had been waiting too long for my food. Hayden, a trainee was also brilliant, he was doing very well for a newbie! The staff have made the stay lovely and I will definitely be coming back, thanks!!

Stayed here again over the weekend of 14th June on a visit to London, as it's a perfect central location with easy tube and bus links and the room suited our requirements immensely especially for a short stay..

It was a particularly hot and humid day when we arrived and I have to admit the room was warm. However, it was a pleasant surprise when a fan was brought to our room and set up for us. Thanks for this.

Also, thanks to the reception staff who again were very cheery and pleasant.

If you are on a short vacation trip to London and want somewhere that is clean, comfortable and in a good central location with friendly and professional staff, this is an ideal place to stay and I would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the building are quieter

It is definitely a budget hotel, so we did no expect great things, and were more interested in its location for the price so we could get out and do things, so in that respect lived up. However we had to ask for towels - twice - after we were assured we would get more than one, which we didn't until our last night of staying there. The bathrooms aren't great, clean enough but there is no extractor fan so the bathroom becomes damp and smelly extremely quickly, and as the shower curtain is too short water ends up covering the floor and won't dry up. Also the room was incredibly hot with no air conditioning, but they provided a large fan that was helpful. That said, the bed was comfortable and room was decently sized for the price. Wasn't the worst stay, but a few improvements and it could have been a lot better. I don't think we should have to ask for towels twice before we get them - lucky we had travel towels.

Overall for value can't be beaten, good travel links close by and easy walking distance to Hoxton and Shoreditch. Let down by horrifically hot room and even though we didn't need to use it it's never nice to see a loose wire sticking out of the plug on the heater and there was a developing damp patch on the roof in the shower. All the staff were very helpful and friendly and would come back again.

We choose this hotel for its location and it was very easy to get around the sights as the nearest tube station is only 5 minutes away. The room was clean and fitted our needs perfectly for a family of 4, beds were very comfy and clean. The breakfast was great value for money and very nice actually, lots of choice and kept filled up constantly by staff. Reception staff were helpful and gave us lots of info about getting around London. My only complaint is our room, 144 on the first floor, was very noisy outside on the street and we were woken up every night by laundry vans and glass bottle collectors, so try and choose a room on the other side and not on Tabernacle Street. I would definitely stay here again as it was great value for money and a great location with polite staff and clean beds.
