Description: For more than 30 years, Satay House restaurant in Londons Paddington has been attracting lovers of Malaysian cuisine from all over the capital and across the globe. Satay House Malaysian restaurant was given a rejuvenating makeover in 2006 by the designers of Wagamama so it now sports cheerful orange feature walls with hibiscus flower stencils, sleek leather upholstery and pools of warm light. Despite the name, the food isnt just about meat on sticks, though Satay Houses satay is likely to be the best in the city. Certainly the restaurant is a home-away-from-home for ex-pat Malaysians and there are regular visits from the Malaysian royal family. Large portions of fiery sambal and traditional rending curries offer the perfect opportunity to eat Hidangan style, or sharing with the rest of your table as in traditional Malay culture. All food served at Satay House is certified Halal and the soft beverages include several intriguing Malay offerings.

The food was excellent and really worth going for. All courses and dishes ordered were good. Food was reasonably priced at around 7-10 for a main. Drinks (e.g. a bottle of Tiger beer) were just under £4 each.

Atmosphere was reasonable but being in the basement on a Tuesday night we were left as the only ones down there for our dessert. The only disappointment was the service. We had to ask for most things, e.g. more drinks, to order and for the bill. Still I would go back.

Much improved from a previous visit a few years back. The only drawback is the size of the place, we were a group of 10 and it was very difficult to get us all round a table- we had to split into 2 tables and pass the food around. The portions were not overly generous either so it would be recommended to order double the aount if there were more than 4 sharing the dishes- that said, the food itself was good and service very satisfactory.

I had a taste of several dishes cooked by chef, Junus. He prepares the dishes with a lot of love and dedication. Certainly worth a visit and pretty authentic for Malaysian.

Upscale and located close to edgware road. Good Malaysian cuisine in London, great for business meetings with upto 8 people.

Clean and well maintained though a tad bit small which is not surprising given the real estate costs in that part of London.

Ok so we had the chicken satay and I have to say I have had better but it was nice. Then I had the mee goreng dish which was decent and my friend had the chilli chicken in sweet sauce with milk which was also decent. All in all it was nice but not fantastic as I have previously had. The restaurant is small and the tables are packed next to each other in the basement.
