Description: For award-winning Italian-style pizzas with Thameside views, it doesnt get much better than the Gourmet Pizza Company restaurant in Londons Gabriels Wharf, not far from Waterloo Station. This family-friendly venue is nestled amongst the local boutiques and design studios and is popular with an arty, unpretentious crowd who love the river views and the villagey vibe. With heated al fresco seating, Cape Cod-style dining room and buzzy South Bank vibe, the Gourmet Pizza Company is popular with pizza lovers and people-watchers all year round. The hearty and creative pizza menu includes favourites such as the Californian vegetable pizza, the beetroot and blue cheese pizza with chilli oil, and the chicken and spinach pizza. Salads are a fine accompaniment to the main gig. The wines are affordable and the waitstaff are quick on their feet.

We ate here about 15 years ago, before Southbank eateries had sprung up everywhere, and enjoyed our food very much. However this was not the case this time and we were sadly disappointed. We can't review food as we left before we ordered any food. We were shown to our table which was just inside door and cramped, so we then asked to be moved to the veranda at side of building. This was out of the way which we preferred, but then we were forgotten about! No waiters came through to take drinks order, so after 25 minutes, we decided to leave. As we left we saw our original table full with another group, all who were happily enjoying their drinks!!i
If you like terrible service, being cramped and awful music (loud, poppy country through tinny speakers) then this is the place for you. Such a shame. Will jot be visiting again.

When I say shocking I actually non-existent as we had to physically go up twice to get served after being seated. Even then the pizzas came with no charm, a smile or even a word from our different waiters. Thankfully gratuities are not included in the bill and we saw several people leave before being served.
On the plus side, the pizzas are actually very good and came in good time. Other people's food also looked pretty tasty and the view by the Thames in the sunshine is very cool.
If you only trained your staff on the easy art of smiling and good service, this place could be awesome. As it is, I probably won't go back as the staff are pretty poor which is a shame as it's a really convenient pre-theatre dinner spot.

We came across gourmet pizza whilst sightseeing on our trip
We were not expecting much just a quick lunch
We were very pleasantly surprised and both agreed that we had never had a better pizza

You can smell this place a mile off. Lovely fresh food, helpful staff who will go out of there way to help you however they can. Even the takeaways are fantastic. Always really busy but worth the wait every time

Given the location of this place, it could quite easily be a tourist trap. Far from it. The pizza's are great and the service is very good too. When we visited it was very busy evening but our waiter was on top of everything, friendly and efficient. As soon as we sat down he immediately brought glasses of water to the table. The location by the river and the view is obviously fantastic.
