“It's gone!”
Reviewed 4 August 2013

Attempted to have a meal here on Sunday 4 August, this former restaurant is an empty shell. Does anyone know what happened?

“Fantastic Greek”
Reviewed 21 July 2013

Love Greek food and booked for our first night of our London trip, so glad we did. Staff very friendly, had cheese pie and spinach pies for starters. 2 large spinach pies and 4 triangular cheese pies, wonderful. We also had a Nan bread, perfect. Main course I had Moussaka, better than I've had in Greece, loads of meat in it, my partner had Pork loin cooked to perfection. And of course a couple of shots of Ouzo to go with it all. Will defo be going there for another meal on our next trip in December. Had to give them our email address though as were told they are moving, hope not too far. Spoke to the owner as we left to say how wonderful the meal was he was sitting on a table outside the restaurant. Our waiter and other members of staff all said goodbye as we left all very friendly. Do agree with other review about service charge already added to bill, would rather give as we deem fit at end of meal ourselves.

“Authentic Greek cuisine that transcends the stereotypes”
Reviewed 20 July 2013

My Turkish friend and I arrived at the restaurant without having earlier booked and it was a Saturday night. Although the restaurant was booked out, the friendly staff found us a great and roomy table and looked after us without imperfection from start to finish. We came across 'As Greek As It Gets' online and we are extremely pleased we came. The service was efficient, the owners and staff spoke perfect English and Greek and helped us choose our dishes. We ordered: spanakopita, kalamari gemisto (calamari stuffed with feta and herbs), horiatiki salata (traditional Greek salad), arnisio lemonato (Greek lamb in a white lemon-y sauce with mash potato) and of course, Greek-style patates tiganites (fries) with rigani (oregano)! The spanakopita serving was a generous piece for each of us. It was obviously fresh and made on the day. The filo thin and seemed home-made, stuffing of spinach and feta generous and succulent. The lamb was soft and whilst the lemon sauce gave it a great 'bite' and had us wanting more! Highly recommended. Mash was excellent, whilst the calamari was grilled to perfection. Sometimes you get calamari that is rubbery and disgusting, but this was fresh and cooked to perfection, and the feta stuffing topped it off. Came with salad too. No cheap, factory-made crumbed calamari here! Patates were as always to die for, as was the chunky, colourful Greek salad which went well with out spanakopita. Mythos beer worth a try, and to top it all off, the manager shouted us, on the house, a large (and fresh) galaktobouriko (Greek custard cake wrapped in filo pastry and drizzled with syrup) and baklava. I've had MANY galaktobourika in my life (my mum makes them exceptionally well) and I could tell, firstly, it was homemade, secondly, fresh as (when you shake the plate and the galaktobouriko wobbles, you know it's fresh as!), thirdly, my best ever because the syrup was not overpowering and I LOVED the tiny scent of lemon in the syrup that balanced the vanilla & cinnamon out. My Turkish friend said the baklava was much better than the one she ate at a Turkish restaurant the night before, and I loved it too (though galaktobouriko is my weakness). A very clean restaurant, great ambience, great staff and manager. Will definitely come back as I am a Greek from Melbourne studying here. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and so glad to see the restaurant was booked out and full. Finally people are seeing that Greek cuisine is not just about souvlaki and gyros, but is much more. Thanks to 'As Greek As It Gets', we can have the true Greek gastronomic experience at good value. Total price: 54 pounds for 2 people.

“Authentic”
Reviewed 15 July 2013

Booked this place after seeing a write up in an airline magazine. As we like Greek food & in London for the weekend we decided to give it a try. Friendly welcoming staff, authentic menu & reasonably priced. Service was good & the food excellent. Only negative point for me was the automatic adding of a service charge to the bill. I would have left a tip anyway but I am still old fashioned in this area & believe that this should still be at the discretion of the diner & not the restaurant
