Been going here for over five years. Truly one of the best Chinese in this part of the city. Recommend the steamed sea bass with black bean sauce...Service is efficient and quick.

They been using more and more MSG chemicals in all dishes. The steamed fish is farmed. The pork and beef quality is terrible. Its ok if u missed lunch hour, because they stay open all afternoon; making it possible to get somethign to eat that is avarage. If you complain about the food quality they are generally reluctant to do anything. Expect to eat McDonalnd quality food and then you will not be disapointed.

Been going to the Green Cottage for the past 15 years and it's about honest food and not about decor or ambience. The main menu maybe a little 'anglicised' i.e.chinese food for the english, however there is a seperate 'chinese' menu which is rather good so do ask for that and explore the menu (the staff are more than happy to help transalate). The dishes in there are very traditional home style cantonese dishes.

My family have been eating at the Green Cottage my whole life - I'm 32! First things first, you don't come here for the service. It has always been brusque bordering on rude- waiters will ignore you when you're desperately trying to catch their eye to order something, but then will whisk your plate away while you're still eating!! The food however is delicious. I personally think it's not quite as good as it was a few years ago- crispy duck is slightly less succulent, Singapore noodles are a bit too heavy on curry powder drowning out other flavours- but you'd only notice if you've been going as long as I have!! Still think it's better than most of the Chinese places in Chinatown ;-)
