70's nostalgia, punk jukebox, pinball machine, pacman, sassy staff, and the best pizza I've eaten outside Napoli
What's not to like. I'll be back

Hello, oh Lord of Morpeth. It's a tough call catering for Old Ford, Bow and Vicky Park isn't it? You used to be a violent BNP crackhead establishment. Now you do upmarket gins and awesome pizzas with retro pinball and a jukebox which seemingly doesn't work but looks cool. Yet you want to keep some of the original lot happy so you shove on the footy at regular intervals but we don't always want footy but it is never clear when it is on and when it isn't. Sometimes we just want a quiet drink. Then there's the new upmarket trendies alongside the canal. What do we do about them? Do they like football or cocktails? Hmmm maybe both? And why do you always get an aggressive Essex brigade of a weekend? Can't they do their charlie, polish their teeth and be offensive and rude to us locals somewhere else? Like...Essex?

Basically half the time you're a great local. But the other half is still trying to work out who you are. You'll get there. One day. Perhaps.

This is a really lovely hidden gem. Very much a pub that would be at home in Hackney but a bit further east. It was packed on a Saturday Night with a youngish crowd. The is a good selection of beer and the Pizzas were excellent.

First off, the pizzas are authentic and amongst the best we've experienced in Italy, let alone London. No fuss (and no plates - pizzas are brought to the table in a delivery box, which suits us just fine). This isn't the pub for a quiet conversation, but we love it for the atmosphere and the mix of local people of various ages and styles. Bar staff are lively and welcoming; we're pleased such a characterful pub is one of our locals.

If you had seen this pub about a year a go then you will be able to appreciate the changes that have been made. Much nicer and more airy. Beer selection is not the usual and plenty to choose from. Prices are ok but it's not Wetherspoons. Pizzas are great and have some interesting combinations and all in all a great little pub. However - note to landlord - you need to do something about drug taking in the toilets. I was there Sat 12th September and it was obvious what was going on. One guy even dropped his powder in the gents and it was all over the floor. Shame if a nice pub got known as a druggies pub. So many places round there have gone the same way!
