La Porchetta used to be our Friday night staple when we first moved into the area 20 years ago. Back then, it produced good value, generous pizzas which were a little unrefined and tables were always packed to the rafters. La Porchetta remains a reliable stalwart of Stroud Green and, if anything, the pizzas have improved over the years, with thinner crusts, better mozarella and less piled-high toppings. Less spectacular are the non-pizza items on the menu, an aubergine parmigiana being a far cry from the moreish, melting plateful I was expecting. But it's still excellent value and service is efficient and friendly.
