I don't think my wife and I could have found a better place to stay on our recent trip to London. The flat is located in Hampstead, which is lively but without the craziness we saw in other parts of the city. Among the things we liked:
Gabrielle was very easy to deal with both while booking the flat and after arrival. She was very gracious in dealing with our needs to split the stay in two due to a tour we were taking in Scotland. This was the first time renting through VRBO that the owner met us at the property on arrival. It was a very nice touch, and we got to meet her dog as well!
The flat is very close to a Underground station. This was very handy. Be aware that if you take the Underground from the airport to the flat, you will have to get your luggage up a short flight of steps before you get to the lifts.
Once inside, we found a very nice interior. The kitchen, which was important to us as we don't like to eat out all the time on trips, was very well equipped and there were plenty of staples there for us to use. If you're coming from the US as we did, you will find the appliances to be different than what you're accustomed to, but it didn't take long to adapt.
The bedrooms are located on the back of the flat, and were very quiet at night. On Friday and Saturday evenings, Hampstead is busy, but we never found the noise level unacceptable. There is a hospital not too far away, so you will hear the occasional ambulance going by, but the London police and fire people are pretty good about not using the sirens unless they need to.
It's a short walk from the flat to Hampstead Heath, which is one of the nicest parks I've ever been in. We should have spent more time in the Heath, as it's very relaxing.
I usually can find at least one negative to any VRBO property, but I'm at a loss to do that here. When we return to London, we will look no farther than this flat!
Located on High Street, a two minute walk from the Tube; walk to coffee, restaurants and shops but still quiet once inside. Gabrielle was an excellent host, helpful and responsive. The flat is comfortable with a private entrance and windows in every room. We are eager to return.
This flat is located on Hampstead High Street and is surrounded by wonderful shops of all kinds - food, art, clothes - and is just a two minute walk from the tube. Despite its central location, there is no traffic noise at night. Gabrielle, the owner, could not be more solicitous and helpful. We have stayed in this flat three times and look forward to our next visit.
