Owner description: At Saltholme, you'll find a world of amazing wildlife thriving right in the middle of the Tees Valley's heavy industry.Surprising, isn't it? But this is a brilliant place for wildlife – and for you! Come and explore the state- of-the-art visitor centre with panoramic views of the reserve and its industrial backdrop. Follow your nose to the café to sample freshly brewed coffee and home-cooked meals, and then stop off in the shop for a bit of retail therapy.Get outdoors with the family to explore the discovery zone and run, jump and clamber through the adventure playground. If you fancy relaxing, seek out a bench in the tranquil wildlife garden or venture to the far reaches of the reserve for some quiet time with nature. However you want to spend your time at Saltholme, you're sure to fall in love with the place and come back time and time again.

We took the grand kids to see the lambs, I have lived in Billingham for 43 of my 46 years and never realised that this place was here - a lovely facility with plenty to do for all ages, looking forward to gong back.

This is a really well-designed reserve. The facilities are good and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We liked the soups for lunch - pea & mint, and vegetable.

We love this place, it's a little gem of beauty amongst industrial back drop of Teesside. It's peaceful and relaxing to walk around watching the birds. They often have family days for the kids to get involved with bird spotting, bug catching, pond dipping, nature trails etc. You can enjoy a cuppa in the cafe upstairs which overlooks the reserve. We love how you pay a nominal fee of £3.00 per car to enter and then they have rucksacks available for hire for the kids and binoculars too.

Its a beautiful place with an important focus on our wildlife. Visit and support...Apparantly there are seals that can be seen close by but I have not been that way yet :)
