“Best staff ever - firmest beds ever!!!”
Reviewed 9 November 2012

Our visit to Middlesbrough was to help one of our sons find rental accommodation for a work placement in the area.

No problems finding the hotel. Check in was very warm and friendly but also professional. We had two rooms both of which were very clean, smaller than some of the premier inn rooms but everything there which you could need.

The not so great aspect was that our party of four all felt the beds were not very comfortable and we didn't have a great night's rest - beds are a little on the hard side. We did mention this on checkout to the again, very friendly and pleasant staff and were advised they have memory foam mattress toppers available on request. Tip to management might be to mention this at check in, or in pre-check in notification as this would make a huge difference to some travellers, especially the golden oldies among us!!!

We did have breakfast in the hotel and it was extremely good, served by staff who went over and above to look after everyone in their dining-room.

We will be back in Middlesborough over the course of the coming year to visit and this is highly likely to be where we will stay. However, we will make sure the mattress topper is in place next time and look forward to a better night's sleep.

This hotel was clean and quiet, I had the best night sleep I've ever had in a hotel at this hotel, breakfast service was outstanding, all cooked fresh to order and the breakfast staff were superb, as we're all the staff that we encountered on our stay, we actually wished we had booked 2 nights!

Have stayed at this hotel before so it really was no brainer for us to stop here again, the service we received from all staff was fantastic and also would say the same about the services we was offered.
However on this trip we found the bed to be rock solid and gave us 2 very bad nights sleep due to giving myself and my wife pain in our backs and the hips, this pain carried on into the day meaning we had to take pain meds to ease it. The beds we had 2 years ago was so good you could sink into them and we both slept like babies. The staff did offer to add an extra duvet as they only had one topper but that didnt make much difference.
But with saying this about the bed we both will have no problems staying at this hotel again, location is great, staff are fantastic and friendly and also helpful, rooms are high quality due to having upgraded to fitting to all rooms. Just when we stop again we will bring our own mattress topper as the hotel only has one to go around.

Room Tip: Family Room 222 the bed is rock solid so ask for the mattress topper if it is available.

Stayed one night. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The only criticism in the room is the heater buzzed during the night so had to turn it off so I could sleep to a cold room
I can't comment on the Toby carvery, as a lone female I am not keen to go out for dinner at 8.30pm when I arrived to sit in a pub
Breakfast is a restaurant within the hotel reception which is great as no need to cross the car park into the pub
Only thing I would mention is for the staff to be more sensitive to lone females- on check in my room would clearly mentioned - generally premier inn reception staff do not do this and on breakfast reception my name and room number was made audible to all having breakfast (all men)
Small touches re privacy make the difference. In saying that, the staff were very pleasant and the breakfast was lovely- hot and plentiful with good strong costa coffee.

Have stayed here on three occasions. It is a very convenient location. Have always found the accommodation very clean and comfortable. The staff especially in the breakfast area are always a delight to be served by as nothing is too much trouble and they are always genuinely friendly and helpful.

My experience here was the polar opposite of my recent stay at the overprice Royal Bath in Bournemouth. Here I was visiting my other adult child at university and the visit was so much more enjoyable. Middlesbrough is a really friendly place and this included the service from all the staff at the premier inn. We ate at the Toby carvery next door and again the staff were so helpful and couldn't do Enough for us. We were able to buy a carafe of chilled house wine to take back to our room to relax before dinner. The meal was good value for the price we paid and the desserts super value. We didn't do breakfast as we'd eaten at the carvery and were also due to eat out later in the day. But if I stayed again I'd definitely have the breakfast as it looked super and someone else recommended it too.

The whole atmosphere was friendly and relaxes. Ok so the room is fairly compact and bijou but super clean and lovely beds. A slight slip was that they forgot the mattress topper on my twin but I was prepared to overlook it as the staff were so friendly and kind. Looking forward to A return trip.

Room Tip: Check the bed has a mattress topper when y arrive or you're in for an uncomfortable night!

Our latest stay at the Premier inn Middlesbrough was very warm and welcoming. Both the reception staff were very professional, friendly and very well presented. My most impressive time though came at breakfast. The staff were lovely, they really went out of there way to help and the quality of food was exceptional.

Room Tip: Rooms on the bottom floor were a little bit noisy, but nothing a couple of ear plugs didn't fix.
