“Another visit”
Reviewed 22 August 2013

Having been back for another visit to this restaurant I'm still of the opinion that this place is excellent both for value for money, quality and staff. Yes the staff might be a bit slower than other places but they are being trained and trying their very best to get it right - everybody has to start somewhere, and they do it with a smile which is more than can be said for other places. The value for money and quality are excellent. I love going!

“an off day?”
Reviewed 17 August 2013 via mobile

came on a sunday as I have heard about their sunday lunches and read all the reviews before and was a special occasion celebrating a birthday. the service was poor at best do they only employ teenagers? their attitudes didn't make you feel welcome which was disappointing and when complained they didnt take it well. the meat was nice but was cold along with the rest of the dinner and the view, expecting it to be of the river was terrible based inside the college. I wouldn't recommend this to people unless youre looking for a cheap cold lunch.

Dear Honeybooboo881,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Trip Advisor.

I was very sorry to read that we did not meet your expectations on this occasion. We review all comments and strive to improve our service.

We employ students on a weekend and on other occasions during their tenure here, and usually they are teenagers, although they are always supervised by a senior member of College staff.

We are a training establishment and are pround of the work our students do in preperation for industry.

I have passed on all your comments to my Front of house team and kitchen brigade for review.
I hope you will return the Waterside Brasserie at Middlesbrough College and see an improvement from your last visit.

Kind regards
Ruairidh Taylor

“Excellent Sunday lunch”
Reviewed 28 July 2013

This is the 1st time I have visited this restaurant located in Middlesbrough college but it most certainly won't be the last. A fantastic Sunday lunch of top side of beef (3thick slices), huge Yorkshire pudding, mashed roast and new potatoes, carrots, broccoli & braised red cabbage followed by the best sticky toffee pudding that I have ever had, it was so light and delicious. All this for £8.95 for 2 courses. The meals are prepared by the student chefs and service also by the student catering staff who were very attentive, polite and efficient. Cannot praise the lunch enough and high praise to all involved.

“Excellent sunday lunch, bargin price, nice view, friendly service”
Reviewed 30 June 2013

The waterside brassiere, is based on the second floor, of the new Middlesbrough college. It is ran by students and tutors of the college. Please don't be put off, the brasserie is very modern, and has great views over looking Middlesbrough docks, and across to Middlesbrough Football ground.... you don't feel like you are in a college restaurant.
we went for Sunday lunch, as a family, with little children, there was about 30 people in the place, and a nice atmosphere. the options are 2 course lunch for 9pound or three courses for 11 pound, including coffee....
I opted for soup, and beef dinner. the soup was lovely home made and very tasty. the main course was the best, beef was cook to perfection, and nice thick slices. Served with roast and mash potatoes, red cabbage, carrots and cauliflower cheese. Best Sunday dinner I have had in a while....
Finished off with stick toffee punning and cream....all for 11 pound...... you pay that for a main course in most restaurants....

Staff were very friendly with children, giving ice cream... the service was better than some 5 staff restaurants I have been in..
Plenty of free parking outside, and they are open during the day also, they recommend booking
