The Dorman Museum is great for learning about all sorts of things and for a free Museum you cant fall off! Unfortunatly when I visited last year there were rumours of the place being closed due to lack of visitors! I hope that this is not the case and we can keep it open :)

Used to go as a child and it had a monster collection of bird eggs which were totally fascinating, thank goodness I and my friends had no desire to go onto that hobby which is largely illegal hopefully now, its has some really interesting exhibits and some which are rather second rate, but its really really worth going to have a walk around and call for a coffee, its a great local resource and worth a few hours of your time

So much to see and do. Took my 5year old niece and 80 year old mum - we all enjoyed it. Brought back childhood memories - glad the bees have gone though!

Saw this museum online and decided to visit one Sunday afternoon. I wasn't really expecting much but I was really surprised. There are some really nice exhibits in here and lots of hand-on interactive activities for the kids. Spent a a good couple of hours there but could have stayed considerable longer. We particularly enjoyed the fossil exhibits; seeing a stuffed passenger pigeon (a bird which became extinct in 1914) was a highlight for me. Lots of other stuffed animals, including a fascinating display of birds eggs and nests. Egyptian exhibit was OK but some of the cases in this room do not show off the items particularly well. Museum itself was free to enter and the shop was reasonably priced with lots of nice items for both kids and adults. Adjacent to Albert Park so why not take in both attractions at the same time. Will be making a return trip in the not too distant future.

The Dorman Museum is always on a list of things I visit when I come to Teesside. My main interest is in the collection of work by Christopher Dresser, the world famous designer - arguably the first and most important designer for the industrial age. Dresser visited Middlesbrough in 1874 at a time of industrial depression. He saw in the town's brickworks, metal industries and industrial glass manufacture a base for creating items of beauty for everyday use. This would alleviate unemployment and give people a creative outlet.

The Dorman is home to the most extensive collection of Dresser's designs in the World - it is a 'must see'. There are also interactive displays for kids (an
