I've stayed at the Blue Bell Lodge in 2012 and decided to give it another go because of the location. However, time has not been kind, the room I had was decidedly shabby and dark, because of tall trees outside the window. Only one bedside light worked, there were tears in the wall paper over the bed, but most bizarrely, no bedside tables. I could see from the marks on the floor they had been there once, and as the bed was quite high, it meant that cups of tea, books etc could only be reached by leaning right out of bed, not an ideal situation.

Breakfast is very good, cooked to order rather than the less appealing practice of putting everything under lights and having to serve yourself. Staff in the restaurant are friendly and efficient.

This place really knows how to take customers for granted ,try going there on a Sunday lunch time if you enjoy standing at the bar and not being served or perhaps you enjoy wine but find it difficult to make a choice , no problem , no choice , hopeless management , understaffed what an embarrassment

The staff were lovely and helpful. The room was small but adequate and quite clean apart from the giant burn mark in the bath! The bed was small and uncomfortable. The pub played loud music until 12pm. This hotel was only chosen for it's location. Perhaps slightly overpriced for what it is.

My room and bathroom were clean and well maintained. Shower very good which I like and the bed was very comfortable.
The bar and dining room are a bit tatty and outdated so could use some refurbishing and updating. Pub food was fine and reasonable price. Breakfast had lovely bacon , freshly cooked but the 1 poor waitress was overwhelmed due to there being a coach party as well as other guests. But staff helpful and polite and the location was very convenient for me.

Room Tip: My room at the back while not picturesque was nice and quiet!

Stayed two nights late September. The rooms are adequetly furnished and very clean. Bed was very comfortable and shower powerfull. Food was available from bar which had good selection was reasonably priced and tasted fine. A selection of cereals, yogurts or cooked food was available for breakfast. Staff are friendly and very helpfull. Only moans are that the decor was very dark in the room which meant that the light had to always be on and that our room (others too) was exceptionaly hot. Whilst you could turn off the radiator there was still a large hot water pipe running beneath this that remained hot and really pushed out the heat. We were lucky that our room was groundfloor and we could open the window wide to cool the room.

food adequate for what we paid .bed comfy with two good pillows. but OMG the heat in the rooms was killing throughout the night neither of us got hardly any sleep (other guests also complaining ) would only return if we got sub-zero temperatures during the winter .was advised by front of house staff that it was caused by the water pipes that they could do nothing about
