“Very tried rooms”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

I stay here for two nights, during August 2014. The rooms are very tried with peeling paint work in the bathroom and the bedroom carpet all rucking up. My room smelt like an old peoples home, that stale urine smell. The bar food was just that, a throw back to the 1980's only just one step up from sausages in a basket.
The only thing that keeps this hotel going is the fact that you currently cannot get a hotel for love or money in Middlesbrough due to the amount of construction going on in the area.

Definitely one to avoid.

Have stayed at the bluebell for a week whilst my husband was training. I loved it. The rooms were spotlessly clean, the food was value for money. I loved the character of the lodge which takes you back to an era I was not born. I am used to staying in some nice places...I loved the bluebell for its old feel and character. I would definitely stay here again in future.

We stayed at the blue bell a few weeks ago. We were impressed with the hotel. Rooms were lovely, comfy and clean. We had breakfast and lunch food was really nice and very good value for money. Staff were very pleasant and approachable. We would definitely stay again.

I was greeted with a warm welcome by the receptionist. She was very polite and could not do enough for us.
We had several meals in the restaurant during our stay and the food was very high in quality and reasonably priced.
All the staff made us feel part of their family during our 3 day stay and we would definitely return

My Aunty booked this place for my grandma's funeral as it is conveniently close to the crematorium. The buffet they put out was below average with just sandwiches, pork pie and quiche to choose from. Not even the classic crab stick or cocktail sausage made an appearance! Two pints of Greene King IPA beer, warm and as a result poor. That is not how this beer should be served despite being told by the bar staff it is and I had to replace it with a safer Guinness, which I had to pay for of course despite only having that first sip from the IPA. Re-furb done out from but still the 80's look in the function rooms. Poor
