“Pleasant late lunch”
Reviewed 9 February 2014 via mobile

My colleague and I had been working near the University and struggled to think of a lunch venue nearby. We called into BSK and decided on an omelette and a melt. Omelette was served with bread which was unusual, but lovely, the melt was a little hard to cut with the knife so was picked up and munched. The bill including coffees was under £14, good value. The lady taking the order may have been a new starter, may have been worth mentioning as it took quite a while to get sorted but no complaints

“What Middlesbrough has needed!”
Reviewed 1 February 2014

We have walked past The Baker Street Kitchen every Wednesday watching the preparations for opening since November, we always commented on how we were excited to try it out once it had opened, as it looked very unique for Middlesbrough. Today we finally had the chance to try it out and it really did not disappoint.
We popped in for a light brunch and a hot drink: we immediately noticed the relaxed, homely atmosphere, and how well the place was laid out and decorated. It gave a feel of chic modern cafe turned rustic all at the same time, truly a very unique place!
We were very impressed with the menu selection, considering it's a cafe rather than a restaurant, dishes range from omelettes, all day breakfasts, toasties and soup, but all of which are not just run of the mill set ups. It was wonderful to see more sophisticated ingredients and ensembles than Middlesbrough is used to, we both agree that Middlesbrough has needed a place like this.
We had a croque-monsieur and a chicken, stuffing and mayo toastie. Both of which were beautiful! My girlfriend had a hot chocolate, which she believes to be the best she's had, where as I had an Americano, as a coffee connoisseur, I can tell you whole heartedly that it was excellent, a real proper coffee! None of this boiled, carbon tasting mockery coffee.
The staff were prompt professional and friendly, can't ask for anything more.
We will be returning and recommending The Baker Street Kitchen to our friends and family, and hope to become regulars of this little gem.

“Lovely place, excellent food!”
Reviewed 30 January 2014

My Mum and I visited here for a weekday late lunch. The service was excellent and very friendly, surroundings were modern and relaxing, and the food was delicious and very good value. We would definitely both return!
