“Beware the fire alarm”
Reviewed 6 December 2012

Stayed here for 2 nights and on the first night there was a fire alarm set off by someone smoking I think. No-one knew what to do as there was no member of staff on night duty at all, just a mobile number to ring. Not sure how we would have managed had it been a real fire. The manager eventually appeared after we had waited for 25 minutes in the hallway. Breakfast was good and rooms clean but concerned about the safety of 20 rooms full of people with no staff to help in an emergency. Also, no car park and outside the hotel there is 2 hour parking with no restriction after 6.30pm. So beware if you park before 4.30 as you are liable to get a ticket as 2 other residents did.

Room Tip: Dont go to the second floor. Very steep stairs and no fully opening windows and no fire escape othe...

This was our 3rd visit to the Stracey Hotel . Great staff nothing to much trouble. Rooms comfortable and warm & spotless. Breakfast very good and plenty of choice. Nice and convenient for city centre and rail station. We will be back again soon I hope.

We had booked into the Beeches Hotel, but chaos ruled and our room was double booked. Found the Stracey hotel through one of the on-line sites, and managed to get a double room late on the same day. Mary, the receptionist on duty that evening took us to the room before we checked in. The room was front facing, overlooking the postal depot car park, but as trees screened off the eyesore, we didnt see a problem with privacy.
The four nights we stayed here were a real pleasure, and the cooked breakfasts very enjoyable. We never used the bar or had an evening meal, meeting up with a family member and trying out the local eateries instead. There is a lot to see and do in this wonderful city so hopefully it wont be too long before we return again and stay in this professionally run hotel.

Room Tip: On street parking til 10am, then move the car to the nearest car park.

My elderly dad, my husband, our son and I visited our daughter, who studies at the UEA. The hotel is situated near the railway station, which was practical for us. A bit far to walk to the city centre for my dad, but otherwise the lokation was just fine. The rooms were modern and clean. The double room was really small, but nice. The twin was big, though! But more noise from traffic there....The staff was friendly - nothing more nothing less. No initiative from them, but helpful if you asked...
The continental breakfast was dull but the cooked breakfast was good.
I think I might use this hotel again.

My boyfriend and i stayed here 21st-23rd September.
We loved the hotel, really clean modern and our room was faultless.
We were welcomed in a friendly manner as we were the whole weekend and the breakfast set you up for the day.
Would most certainly come again.

Spotted this hotel on a previous stay in Norwich and decided to try it. Initial impressions of interior decor was it was a bit modern for my tastes However everything was spotlessly clean and I soon felt very much at home. Room was great with best hotel shower I can remember. All staff were very friendly and efficient and breakfast was great. Definetly add this hotel to my list to revisit in future.

Room Tip: Room 14 was a small double room let as a single on first floor overlooking Stracey Rd. Post office...
