“Our 3rd Visit to Stracey Hotel”
Reviewed 8 June 2013

This was our 3rd stay at the Stracey Hotel. When making our reservation I asked if there was a chance that we could have a room on the ground floor as we had done the first time we had stayed. I am pleased to say that the receptionist was incredibly helpful in accommodating our request. When we arrived, we were checked in swiftly and given our keycard. To our amazement we were given the very same room that we had first stayed in, this was fantastic. A lovely room, very clean, large screen TV on the wall, tea and coffee making facilities and a wonderful bathroom with bath and shower. Plenty of bright white fluffy towels that were changed daily if required.
Breakfast each morning was cooked freshly to order. There was a plentiful supply of fresh fruit juice and tea and coffee.
At all times the staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely book to stay again.

The hotel is convenient for the railway station and quite acceptable for the price. My door swipe card stopped working on my second night when I came back to the hotel and I needed to call the out-of-hours number. The duty manager came out as quickly as possible and let me in with no fuss. I would certainly stay again.

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room compared to paying so little for it. All though we had a problem with the shower, either to hot or to cold. It was close to the city centre and the nightclubs. Were a little bit disappointed with the breakfast, but it was alright and we didn't leave hungry! Will definitely stay here several times!

We stayed for just one night and our room was large with a good, clean bathroom. The hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the station and about 10 minutes from the Cathedral so in a good location. The cooked breakfast was very good. Only downside is that the windows don't have any covering apart from curtains so if you want natural light then prepare to have passers by looking in!

Very well located for the railway station, although a fair walk through the grotty end of town to get to the lovely old parts. Very good bathroom. The room was smart, modern and very clean. Good value for Norwich, I think. Check out the Coach & Horses brewpub over the road! I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Norwich

My wife and I spent the night here and it is clean, tidy and well run.
The room we had was more suitable for a single person and we had been warned of this before.
You do have to be careful in the room as it was a top room and the ceiling sloped downwards and if you are tall could bang your head.
My wife slept well but I did not as the bed was too firm for my liking and it was hot, although I did manage to open the window.
Negative points. Climbing up the stairs,we were at the top.The room was quiet until about 7am when a extractor fan type noise could be heard.

The breakfast sausage could be improved, otherwise a reasonable breakfast.

If you are there at the weekend the parking restrictions end at 18.30 on Saturday night and none on Sunday. This was only outside the hotel.Restrictions change further down the road and as it is near the football ground parking is at a premium.
Outsiide on a Saturday was noisy due to the football crowd but they appeared good humoured

We ate at Prezzo near the station which was fine..

Room Tip: Avoid the top rooms if you are not very fit.
