We had dinner here in May, being unable to face another meal in St Giles Hotel. The food was very good - we indulged with three courses and there were no disappointments. Wine list good and fairly priced. The two waitresses - one Italian and one English - were excellent. Nice atmosphere so well recommended.

Good to be able to get a decent meal in the early evening before the theatre. Very good food and service and no need to rush to finish before the show. We will certainly return for the next show.

A hidden gem which serves what you expect but very well. Ability to vary the meals to need and the ability to do most dishes gluten free.

It was a grey, cold, windy Sunday afternoon. We hadn't been to Paolo's before and decided to give it a try. At 12.30, only two other tables were taken when we sat down with the intention of ordering a light lunch. It seemed an age before the waitress arrived to take our drinks order - and another age before the two J2Os and £4.95 "guest" Abbott Ale arrived. These "ages" seemed to increase as lunch time neared its close. By the fourth "age" we were beginning to wonder if we were in the way.

The starters were nice - Avocado al Forno at £7.25 and Garlic Bread at £5.95 - but, on the whole, the menu seemed more expensive than other Italian restaurants we've visited in Norwich and I can't say that was reflected in the quality. For mains we took Ravioli Ricota Spinachi at £10.50, a set Lasagne at a more reasonable £7.50 and desserts. £5.95 for two scoops of ice cream... there was a definite Milanese trend setting in here. Was the food sufficiently exceptional to justify Milan prices? To be honest, it was good - but not that good. We ended up with a lunch bill for nearly £80 and left feeling a bit disappointed. There are certainly places we've been in Milan that offer more for less.

This is a friendly restaurant just off the market square - does a lot of what you would expect but the specials are worth trying - as the food is excellent
