“Nice Location, good service.”
Reviewed 13 June 2011

Spent 1 night here recently, after attending a friend's party, and had no problems with room, apart from the fact that the air conditioning unit wasn't working (it was a hot May weekend)..but this was rectified within a couple of minutes by way of a fan...which was most welcoming. Good wifi service, had an initial problem with log in details, but again, this was resolved within minutes, nice breakfast, would definitely return.

Had a one night stay, booked through the Internet, paid £40.95 for bed and breakfast, can't go wrong for that, better than some more expensive places I have stayed in! The only complaint is that the phone in the room didn't work had to use my mobile to ring for room service!

We stayed at this hotel for the second time for three nights earlier this month. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We got a good deal booking through an agency but have been informed that we would get a special price as returning guests. The room was spacious and comfortable although the decor was a little tired and the room air conditioning was still showing a "waiting for the engineer" notice which was there on our previous stay at Easter. The breakfast was good and the carvery deal was excellent value for an evening meal. We will certainly use this hotel again.

All of the staff we saw were all very helpful and pleasant. Especially the receptionist who checked us in and out the next day. She was fantastic! Very friendly!
The breakfast was lovely too. Lots to choose from. We went for the naughty cooked breakfast option after out heavy night out.
The only bad thing i have to say about the hotel is the standard of the bathroom. It was very dated and didn't seem very looked after. It took use a long to to get the shower to work. We had to 'yank' on the knob to get the water to come through the shower rather than the tap. The bedroom is also very dated but looked well maintained.
I must say the staff are the heart of this hotel and make you feel sooo welcome.
Thank you.

This is a recently built low rise independently owned hotel in an excellent location just off the A47 and about 3 miles from the city centre. The double room with disabled traveller facilities was spacious and very well equipped - a very comfortable king size plenty of power points and an 8ft desk to give just three examples. The breakfasts offered a good range of options, all cooked from fresh ingredients, and the carvery dinner we stayed in for one night was similarly very good. The special rate for a three night stay inclusive of a full breakfast was remarkably good value.

This hotel has potential. The rooms as others have stated are stuck in the 80's and would benefit from an update but are perfectly adequate.
The staff in the restaurant were pleasant but it was overstaffed. The meals ( both the Carvery and a la carte) and the breakfasts were of good quality.
A point to note-receptionists should never embroider the truth and tell porkies as to the busyness of the restaurant and the consequent need to book. The first night we were told there were big groups in and we must book a table but only saw about 8 people and on Saturday night we were the only 2 for dinner in the restaurant. The truth will out!
We booked on Late Rooms- does this mean you automatically get the very very furtherest room from the stairs ( be aware there is no lift.)?
