I have stayed at the brook hotel on a number of visits to Norwich whilst on business in the area the good points about this hotel are its location very good its safe and large car park it has nice rooms although some could do with a bit of an update and some TLC.

The bad points the restaurant can be a real hit and miss the staff very slow and do not understand you well. the other thing is breakfast it is a nice buffet style and most of the time if you time it right it is very good other times i have stayed it oftern runs oout of thing ie no eggs, no bacon so you have to wait aroun=d for staff to repelenish the trays.

This hotel also caters for large coach parties the last time in october i stayed 2 full loads in and the staff tent to flap about abit as they all arrive all at once for breakfast. evening meals are very hit and miss however there is a super pub over the road called the clock tower you can get a super carvery in it at a very good price.

However I must point out this will not stop me from staying at the hotel as it fits my need perfect but i did notice the last time the price had gone up but with no improvments.

Room was shabby Mattresses were awful old and uncomfortable. Arrived in the early evening reception pleasant and efficient. Next morning in daylight saw how filthy room was top of light switches hair dryer and telephone bath toilet and bathroom fittings were disgusting. Only one mug and one packet of biscuits for two people. Glasses in bathroom were tacky.

Took 3 plates to find a clean one at breakfast. Took a spoonful of mushrooms and found elastic bands in the spoon along with the mushrooms. Yuk. Also stainless steel jug on table for milk was grubby on outside and stained brown in inside. Never again !!!

We stayed here for a long week-end the hotel was very clean, the staff where excellant & friendly, nothing to much trouble, the rooms had air conditioning and small heater, and where spotlessly clean. the grounds where kept in excellant condition. The food was fantastic along with the atmosphere...we will definately be staying again. O and one more thing a great bowling alley right next door,

This is a motel-type place close to Norwich and the main roads in from the north-east of the city. It is good value for money and a clean basic stopover with plenty of parking. We paid £43 for a double room no breakfast and £5 supplement for our dog - rang hotel for the cheapest rate. We chose it because we were travelling with a dog and needed to break a journey economically, so weren't looking for luxury or wining and dining and it met our expectations.

Room basic but clean, rather a long walk from reception, with only two faults: the windows were stuck open, which wasn't a problem on a warm night but could have been, and the taps in bathroom looked very old and worn. In general the room and furniture was tired-looking, slight musty smell, but seemed clean. The reception area was bright and recently updated. Didn't eat there so can't comment on breakfast.

There were grassy areas and trees to the side and rear, so ideal for walking the dog .

With refurbishment it would compare well with the budget chains, but it does need the rooms updating, particularly the bathrooms.

Room Tip: Some rooms are a long walk from reception.
