We visited this hotel for an overnight stay whilst on a coach trip from Sussex. We were in the area because we had tickets for the Thursford Christmas Spectacular on the evening of 20th November. It had been arranged with the hotel that they would serve us all an early dinner, at 4 p.m., allowing us to be ready to leave the hotel again by 5.30. Alas things do not always go to plan when embarking on a long journey! There had been an incident on one of the motorways travelled that day and we were at a standstill for over two hours, making it extremely unlikely that we would get to the hotel before dinner. Our coach driver then contacted the hotel to explain our problem and the member of the hotel staff that he spoke to at that time could not have been more helpful. We were told that if we did not make it for dinner then there would be a buffet waiting for us on our return after the show, even though that would be quite late (around 11.30 p.m.). Fortunately for all we did arrive eventually at the hotel in time for dinner, just after 4 p.m. We were very quickly given our room keys and had the opportunity to freshen up before sitting down for dinner at 4.20! By 5.30 we had been served a three course meal and were boarding our coach for the show. That was impressive. The main course was a carvery, which is not usually my choice but this was delicious. In fact the only complaint from the members of our party that we were speaking to was that we did not have time to linger over such a good meal. Our rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. We would definitely stay in this hotel again.

Room Tip: Our rooms were on the ground floor and we found them to be relatively quiet for a busy city hotel.

Staff friendly and go out of their way to help. The beds are comfortable. The rooms are spacious and clean. I didn't think I would be able to afford to stay at this hotel but it offers excellent value for money and convenient for Norwich Centre and the University of East Anglia when I'm visiting my daughter there. Never been disappointed.

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms nearest the Reception are the best.

This was our second stay at this hotel, We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in November 2013, while I was visiting my daughter, the hotel is spotlessly clean, the rooms are spotless,
The bed was really comfy, & great heating system you can control, we slept soundly, we didn't hear anything from neighbouring rooms. tea & coffee facilities in the room, which is great.
The shower needs updating (definitely not a power shower, & if you don't mind water turning ice cold while you are stood under it, then its ok)
Staff are first class, very approachable & helpful, their dress code is exceptional everyone looked very nice.
The food is amazing, buffet style but all fresh & scrumptious, we had the Carvery on Sunday and it was wonderful and plenty of it,
There was an antique fair on whilst we was there & it was really good only £1 entry fee, well worth it,
I've put poor rating for swimming pool & spa because we was not told about these facilities,

My only negative comment is with regards to pricing, it goes up by £20 on a Saturday night, not sure why this is, if you have booked to stay Friday through to Monday morning (like we did) you shouldn't have to pay an extra £20 to stop Saturday night !!!! Baffling
But I would gladly recommend this hotel.
It also neighbours with a Bowling Alley next door which was great fun, & very busy

My wife and I stayed here for 1 night on Friday 22 November as part of a party of about 40. We were on a coach trip to see the Christmas Spectacular at Thursford. We arrived at around 13.30 and although this was early, we were checked in immediately and went to our rooms which were all ready for us. The rooms were clean and spacious with all the usual bits and pieces (tea/coffee, towels and toiletries etc.)
As the show started at 19.00 we had to have an early Dinner (included within the fare) at 15.30. In view of previous comments about the restaurant we went with a degree of worry. Need we, no. The menu has a choice of starters, mains and sweets and we selected soup, carvery pork and crumble. There was no disorganisation or chaos, our starter and sweet all arrived in good time and the selection from the carvery was, to say the least, perfectly edible, tasty and filling with a good variety of vegetables.
The beds were lovely and comfortable and the bathroom/shower was perfectly acceptable. There was some function going on when we returned from the show but you could not hear any noise in the room. The following morning breakfast was available buffet style and had cereals juices, yougharts and everything for a full English. Once again we had no complaints about the choice, quantity and quality of the food.
All in all an enjoyable one night stay without any problems. Would we use the hotel again and recommend it friends, most definitely.
We have stayed at various Best Western's, not only in the UK but abroad and would rank this in the upper quartile.

I stayed here for 2 nights in November as part of a coach party. My room was large, clean and well equipped. The room looked out on to a garden area with a small fountain which was lovely. That is where the positives end and the negatives begin! The dining experience was disorganised at best and chaotic at worst. The meals were buffet style with only one member of staff in attendance (sometimes there was no-one there) so food was not replenished quickly enough so it was hit or miss what food you got. One couple on my coach did not get any as all the food had run out when they got to the buffet! The bar did not have any daught beer (only lager) because one had "run out "and the other was a "bad keg". We were promised that the situation would be resolved by the next night but surprise, surprise it was not. Overall this Hotel was badly let down by the Bar/ Restaurant Manager whose obviously needs retraining in management skills.

Room Tip: Room 123 had a lovely outlook.

My partner and I stayed here at the beginning of November for the main purpose of attending a fair at the Norfolk showground. The location was good, being just a short drive from the venue. I had read the varied reviews of the hotel but as we have stayed at several Best Westerns in the past, some in the U.K. and many in the U.S. we decided to give it a try. We were allocated room 224 and immediately noticed some problems - draughty windows, paint peeling off the walls, mouldy mastic around the bath, greenfly coming from goodness knows where and a general lack of cleanliness in the room. In fact it looked as though it hadn't been hoovered thoroughly for a while. The main reason for asking to move rooms was that it was so cold and I didn't think I would be able to sleep. An electric heater had been placed in the room suggesting that the previous occupants had the same problem. So we were 'upgraded' to room 218 along the corridor. The upgrade simply meant 2 extra cushions on the bed, slightly better decor and newer curtains and headboard but it still looked as if it hadn't been hoovered that recently and the windows were even worse as one of them had a missing handle and it didn't close properly. In effect it was draughtier than the room we had just left. Feeling a little jaded by the experience we decided not to move again and to use the wall heater to warm the room. In contrast the public areas are fairly well presented and some effort has been made to update them. It looks like the Best Western has been clever in this respect as the rooms do not match the bright reception area and corridors. On the plus side breakfast is good value if booked in advance through reception and the food was of a reasonable standard, although staff are not very attentive in the dining room. We booked this hotel because of the proximity to the showground and the fact that the Premier Inn we had stayed at previously was fully booked. We probably wouldn't choose to stay here again. It needs updating and problems need to be sorted out.
