Description: There’s a whole world of food out there just waiting to be explored. A world of spices and colours, sizzles and smells. Of secret recipes and even more secret ingredients, passed across tables in noisy restaurants and down through generations. Flavours we can’t even describe. In combinations you wouldn’t believe. For us, there’s nothing more exciting than discovering these tastes. It’s our passion. Our obsession. It gets us up in the morning and into the kitchen, never knowing exactly what we’ll come across next. A fantastic 2 storey restaurant on Chapelfield Plain, just outside the Shopping Centre and within moments of the theatre - perfect for pre or post-show dining! With outside seating & a balcony on the first floor, make the most of these in-demand seats in summer time. Our upstairs dining level is available to book for private events and can accomodate up to 100 (or 50 seated)! We cater for all occasions from a working breakfast to a children's party with bespoke food menus available on request. There is a separate bar and an outside balcony. Hire of the area is free - what better place to celebrate your special occasion! Sorry but there is no step-free/lift access to the upper level.

You have some choices that are out of the ordinary and that is great. The food itself is good and it’s worth trying something new each time you go.

We thought we would try this restaurant again as we had 2 for 1 vouchers.
Again quite a few things were not available this includes drinks from the coffee machine.
We only ordered items they had. The service was good and fast.

We booked a meal for 8 people in advance including 2 vegetarians.

We turned up for our table at 7.15pm. As we were sat down we advised of several dishes they couldn’t offer as they had run out. I was surprised as it was still early on a Saturday evening and the restaurant wasn’t even full.

We sat down to have a look at the menu and decide on what we were going to have.

Our choice was restricted but we were happy to look at the options available.

We had two in our party who had turned 18 the week before and were looking forward to their first beer with us.

As we were ordering we were were advised that they didn’t have the beer we wanted on tap. They had bottles of the same beer though, which were far smaller and approximately the same price. We asked if they could do a deal on the bottles as they weren’t able to offer what was advertised. The waitress said she would check.

Another waitress came back to inform us that they only had the gluten free beer available.

She became quite rude when we enquired about the margarita flatbread not being available but the flat bread with cheese and pulled pork was, advising us that they wouldn’t scrape the pork off the flatbread for us. I think it’s quite reasonable for a customer to expect the food to be made fresh in a restaurant and nowhere on the menu did it state that the food is pre-made. Our enquiry was valid and the response was rude.

Our request about the pricing for the beer was escalated to the manager, as we considered a third beer on the menu.

We had discussed other restaurant options in the area, but as we were sat in the restaurant and our query was being escalated to the manager we were keen to hear the outcome.

The manager approached the table and said ‘I understand you’re leaving’.

At this point we felt we had no option but to leave.

If as a restaurant you are not able to manage stock levels effectively and treat your customers with respect, you do not deserve their custom.

I feel really disappointed with the way that we were treated and thankfully we had a great meal with amazing service next door spending in excess of £200 and leaving them the generous tip they deserved.

It took 45minutes for someone to even take our order so we didn't get our food until an hour after we had arrived...thank goodness we did not have any children with us! The restaurant wasn't even full so there was no excuse for such a long delay.
The food was fine...full english and veggie breakfast, but not worth the wait.
An other thing that let the place down was no loo paper in two toilets.

Doing lunch in Norwich gives you loads of options and as a family, we do like to at least give each restaurant a go. So on a nice sunny day in September we decided to eat El fresco outside Giraffe. We had never been there before but once we got a table the friendly staff came out and offered us drinks. The menu offers a large range of different foods from around the world, but in my view, it seems they are trying to cover too many bases. I ordered the Pho which is a noodle dish with Thia spice but it didn't really cut the mustard, my wife ordered the Falafel burger which was very dry and needed some sort of sauce and my daughter order a very dry flat kind of chicken burger thing! All in all just a little bit average and £50 lighter, and although the location was great we regretted our choice. On a high note, it seems the table staff are on the ball and very good at service. Like I say, the good thing about Norwich is that there is plenty to choose from, so on and upwards.
