This is a review of the restaurant - we had stayed at the hotel some years ago when we thought dining was not to write home about, but staying elsewhere this time, we thought we'd try the restaurant for Sunday lunch.
Excellent value roasts - £10 one course, £13 for 2 - in a covered courtyard full of atmosphere in this, one of the oldest inns in Britain. Impeccable presentation and service, food of high quality, and not too expensive given the ambience and position. Woodford's Wherry real ale in very good condition went down well with excellent roast beef.
Situated just opposite the Tombland - watch out crossing the road to the Cathedral. Recommended!

We stayed at the Maids Hotel this weekend for a 'quick get away' for us both. We could not have chosen a better Hotel; near the city centre, very close to the Cathedral and other sights in Norwich. The Hotel has an old world charm that dates back I understand to the 11th Centurary; (is it true that Maids Head refers to the head of a fish from the local fish market that used to be just outside the Cathedral ?). We did not have an evening meal at the Hotel but the breackfast was a delight with the breackfast being served and order kept by a super Thai lady (Noy I found out is her name). It is really nice to find one of the old world hotels that still exists amongst the rubble of the modern hotels.

This hotel is in a great location, the food was excellent. The very best asset were the staff, including the management, reception, restaurant and housekeeping teams. Each individual was prepared to go the extra mile to make your stay exceptional.

Room Tip: discuss your specific requirements with the staff

What a great place to stay. It's a long time since I've found staff so pleasant and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. It's an oldy world place which is what should be expected from an old coaching inn. The food and wine was high quality, but it was the staff who made it a place to remember. Highly recommended.

I stayed here for one night with breakfast included. The hotel was fantastic and the room, even though single, was comfortable and full of character. I had dinner on the eve of my stay which was extremely well priced and delightful (Scallops and Beef Medallions), the staff recommended a great accompanying wine!! The bed was comfortable and the temperature of the room (usually something I'm very picky about) was spot-on.
Breakfast was a buffet or sit down style, which was just as fantastic as dinner. The staff were attentive and friendly for that early in the morning, and a special mention to Ivana who recommend places to see in Norwich on my afternoon off.

I stayed here for two nights and while it is not the most modern and glitzy hotel out there, it served its purpose as a great place to stay in Norwich. It's next to the cathedral and surrounded by good pubs and restaurants. The bedrooms are ample and clean, as are the bathrooms. And it's not in the busy, noisy downtown area...though it is in within close walking distance to it. I would stay here again for sure if I ever find myself in Norwich again!

This hotel is a perfect base for exploring Norwich. Just opposite the cathedral and not-to-be-missed Bishop's Garden, very close to the Tourist Bus, (excellent for hoping off and on as you sightsee), close to many good restaurants as well.
The hotel itself has good staff who know their job and a good restaurant. My single room was small( good bed) but the bathroom was large and beautiful. The hotel does have many steps here and there and would impose restraints on anyone with mobility problems but in this old and rambling building there is no way to avoid that; there is a good modern lift but this does not mean the entire hotel is open to a handicapped guest. It is however a delightful place to stay.
