We'd discovered Eaton Park online when searching for somewhere in Norfolk for our grandchildren to sail their little model yacht. Wow, what a gem on the west side of Norwich close to the UEA campus.
There is a massive model boating lake (so big it took 15 mins for a little boat to get from one end to the other, exhausting the kids, who were running up and down in excitement). We took a picnic and just bought coffee from the cafe. The cafe and toilets are near the bandstand and is very cheap for takeaway coffee. Must be honest though - the coffee wasn't very nice.
When the children wore themselves out more running round the bandstand, we then headed over to the enclosed play area. It's a good size and is entirely sanded with lots of choice of climbing frames, slides etc.
We were told by local people that the train around the park is run by volunteers and only operates on a Sunday (we visited on a Saturday) and costs £1 each for a ride.
There's also a really good size skateboard/scooter/bike park that was being very well used by masses of children.
We parked easily in the car park near the skateboard area free of charge.
I definitely recommend taking a picnic, model boat and/or skateboards/scooters/bikes. If you have some spare time left, head over to the free nearby Sainsburys Art Centre for a look at the collection.
Dogs are allowed in all areas off lead, except for the childrens play area.
