“Fabulous free day out with the kids”
Review of Eaton Park

Eaton Park

We'd discovered Eaton Park online when searching for somewhere in Norfolk for our grandchildren to sail their little model yacht. Wow, what a gem on the west side of Norwich close to the UEA campus.
There is a massive model boating lake (so big it took 15 mins for a little boat to get from one end to the other, exhausting the kids, who were running up and down in excitement). We took a picnic and just bought coffee from the cafe. The cafe and toilets are near the bandstand and is very cheap for takeaway coffee. Must be honest though - the coffee wasn't very nice.
When the children wore themselves out more running round the bandstand, we then headed over to the enclosed play area. It's a good size and is entirely sanded with lots of choice of climbing frames, slides etc.
We were told by local people that the train around the park is run by volunteers and only operates on a Sunday (we visited on a Saturday) and costs £1 each for a ride.
There's also a really good size skateboard/scooter/bike park that was being very well used by masses of children.
We parked easily in the car park near the skateboard area free of charge.
I definitely recommend taking a picnic, model boat and/or skateboards/scooters/bikes. If you have some spare time left, head over to the free nearby Sainsburys Art Centre for a look at the collection.
Dogs are allowed in all areas off lead, except for the childrens play area.

We met family here on a hot day and were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. The childrens play area was great and the little water fountain nearby that they could play in was a real winner. You can only park for 3 hours but that was about enough for us. Bring a pic nic.

This is a very popular family attraction which has 2 free car parks which fill up very quickly in good weather. We visited with the grandchildren on a Sunday as this is when the Miniature Railway is running. This attraction in the park runs on Sundays from Easter Sunday to the end of September subject to weather conditions. Price is £1 for all ages and the ride is very gentle although you need to be able to sit astride the open passenger carriages. The park also offers Crazy Golf and a Pitch & Putt. Adults £4.50, Child 7-16yrs £3.50 Child under 7yrs £3 OAP's £4. The site has wide open spaces allowing the children to run about freely, or ride their bicycles, there are football pitches and tennis courts, a children's playground with zipwire, a skatepark, toy boating lake and a central bandstand area which sometimes offers entertainment, plus a garden area with a fountain which the chlldren can play in.. The central area offers a small cafe and toilets including one for the disabled. There is plenty of space and also some tables to enjoy a picnic. A good and safe place to spend time playing with the children in the open air for very little cost.

I love Eaton Park, mainly because of its free parking… if you can get a space! It means, essentially a free day out which is always great in the holidays. The skate park is great for the kids as my family have spent ALL day down there! The park is wonderful and nice a big. Having a picnic on the lawn on a sunny day is perfect. A cafe (we never use as we always bring our own things), toilets, boating lake etc etc….
