“excellent collection”
Reviewed 27 May 2013

This proved to be a wonderful place to visit while waiting for our daughter to pack up her student room.

An eclectic collection of works of art from around the world. Beautifully presented in a modern building (designed by Norman Foster) on the UEA campus.

Light and airy, the building itself is worth closer inspection.

And ... I mean this seriously ... you must visit the loos!

“Hidden gem”
Reviewed 26 May 2013

A remarkable art collection in a beaufiful setting, tucked away on the UEA campus. The current exhibition of Art nouveau and art deco is tremendous. As a bonus it is free (you might have to pay to park) and the cafe is one of the best I have been to.

“Beautiful objects in a peaceful setting”
Reviewed 18 May 2013

We found the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts last year when visiting the city of Norwich. Tucked away amongst the University of East Anglia complex, it can be seen as hard to find, but its well worth it. The building itself, designed by Norman Foster (also Stansted Airport) is visually attractive. The collection of world art and artifacts that Sir Robert and Lady Sainsbury collected and then left to the education of all, students and public alike, is awe inspiring. Walking amongst Henry Moores, Jackson Polocks and Picasos work, side by side with a wooden head of a god from the Cook Islands and an ivory inlaid carving from Polynesia shows great art from the whole world. And the Anderson collection of Art Neuvo glass, furniture and jewellry, took me back again this year, And the cafe! Well you will just have to try it for yourself.

Great collections to visit, nice parkland to stroll around and the best restaurant you can find if you're at UEA.
