We visited the Assembly Rooms after an absence of several years. We had coffees/tea and cakes in one of the lounges which I guess had previously been an exhibition room. The offering has clearly been moved up market from the plastic macs and rain hat brigade who used to haunt the old facility whilst waiting for their buses. All was very pleasant and comfortable, which justified the higher prices than those charged at the average outlet.
My one gripe is one I keep coming across at so many of these places. This exchange is typical: “Can I have a skinny latte, please?” “No sorry sir, we don’t do skimmed milk ….”
Surely in this day and age, it can’t be that difficult to provide? It’s no good giving that “no demand for it” excuse. In the City where I work, I reckon 50% of those queuing up for their morning coffee request skimmed milk. Perhaps it’s time that the provinces responded.
OK rant over. I’ve booked for lunch here in couple of days. Will report back.
