“great place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 June 2012

We stayed here at this hotel in Ipswitch roadfor 4 nights, and the hotel was great, staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was eat all you want buffet, very nice, they had a swimming pool which was a bit old and needed updating, and there was also a steam room, sauna and jacuzzi and also a well equipt gym, all the staff were fab here and they supply the towels each time. (one thing less to take). We thought the price was great as kids eat free. we are going back to stay again this year, would highly recommend this hotel.

Dear Hazel1900,

I would like to begin with thanking you for such kind comments about my team, restaurant and our facilities. It really is feedback like yours which gives both myself and my team such a positive feeling about what we do here at our hotel for each of our individual guests. I will most certainly pass onto my team your feedback on their service.
With regards to our swimming pool, we are in the near future expecting a refurbishment which will hopefully change your thoughts on this area.

All of us here at Holiday Inn Norwich look forward to hopefully welcoming you back here again next year on your return to Norwich.

Kind Regards.

booked 12 rooms at this hotel for family and friends to stay for our 3th anniversary .
all our family thought the hotel was very good .
we went in to pay the bill on sunday morning , my partner and a friend had breakfast , which they thought was quite good .
i tried my sisters scrambled , which we really quite unpleasant , not sure why , just did not taste very nice , other than that the buffet seemed extensive , and varied .
special thanks to joann arnup , ( sorry about the spelling hehe ) who looked after the booking and was a great help .

Stayed here for two nights with husband and daughter. Hotel seemed to be a 1970s build with a very quirky layout which took a little getting used to. Rooms were acceptable with everything that was needed including a huge flat screen TV, the room we stayed in needed a little bit of TLC in terms of repairs to holes/cracks in walls but not bad enough to complain about. The bed was a bit uncomfortable and I had backache, my daughters sofa bed appeared to be a more comfortable option. The centrally controlled ac was functioning and worked quite well. Breakfast provided was nice, had a good variety of selection and was hot and freshly replaced. Staff in restaurant appeared to want to give a high standard of service, asking if everyone was ok and replenishing hot drinks. We also tried the bar meals, we had platters which were very good and didn't take too long to arrive despite the hotel being busy with coach parties. Again empathises was put on service, bar staff were very polite and helpful. Reception staff were also great. The location of the hotel is very handy for Norwich and great Yarmouth, there's some great pubs and a tesco near by. I would stay here again, it's very reasonably priced for what you get. The hotel also has access to a spirit healthclub, we went swimming, pool was good not too busy, changing facilities where good. In conclusion PROS, excellent staff service, it's location, the pool and the price CONS quirky layout, could do with a bit of TLC in some areas, could do with a new bed, no lifts.

Norwich city has a laid back feel and friendly people and this hotel reflects this. My wife and I Stayed 3 nights. All the staff were very friendly from the reception to the restaurant. For any question we asked (e.g. bus times, locations, where to eat, etc) the receptionist was able to give us pre printed information. We pre booked breakfast which was of good standard. The restaurant staff took an interst in all their customers. The hotel is about 1.5 miles south of Norwich although there are bus stops nearby we decided take a pleasant walk into Norwich (about half an hour). On one day we drove to the nearby park and ride and took the bus into norwich. The hotel has a very good swimming pool (larger than usual size for a hotel) and gym. I'd certainly recommend a visit to Norwich and would stay at this hotel again..

Went for a wedding reception & stayed over. Hotels better located in Norwich, room was decently priced, but it wasn't that great. Food & drinks are vastly overpriced, and are of dubious quality.

We stayed there for two nights as we attended a wedding. The rooms are fairly small but very functional including a trouser press and ironing board as well as a small table and armchair. They offer a 24 hour room service which we tried and the food was very nice. Breakfast in the morning is also nice and there is quite a variety of things. Guests can use the pool and the gym free of charge which is really nice. The only negative point was that the floor of the breakfast hall was not very clean and could really have done with a hover...The staff was also very friendly.

Stayed here for 2 nights at the end of May 2012, while attending a wedding at Dunston Hall. Hotel was clean and tidy and the rooms had aircon which was nice as it was very hot at the time of the visit. Staff were very friendly and helpful. A pint of Stella was £4 in the bar, where you can watch skysports. You have to pay for wifi access but the 3G on my phone was OK. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice and the cooked breakfast was nice and hot. I would use again without a doubt.
