I'd booked a room for a weekend break, hoping for a nice quiet relaxing time. The first disappointment came when a makeshift sign (A4 sheet) at reception said there would be music until midnight. A wedding reception was being held downstairs on the Friday night. Yes, it was noisy all the way till midnight. Unfortunately they did the same again the next night.

The room itself was comfortable, the staff friendly but very young and inexperienced.
I was disappointed to find that there were only hand towels in the bathroom and two of the four were in tatters. The following morning there were only two towels not four.
One redeeming features is the good restaurant, with decent food at reasonable prices, although the service at breakfast was sorely lacking. The hotel offers free wi-fi throughout the hotel, but don't expect this in your room. It has limited coverage.
The fittings look cheap and even the bathroom door which had been damaged, had been filled in with polyfilla. Cheap.

All in all, this was not what I expected at the price. It's a reasonable hotel but it's the sort of place you go to for a function.

We booked a 3 night break for 2 Wednesday to Friday nights, taking advantage of a Weekend Wishes break with one additional night. The room was quite spacious with a four poster bed and looked out over the car park. Our room was above the kitchen. We had a carvery that evening which was most enjoyable. On the first morning we had breakfast which was a buffet with cereals juices and hot breakfast items. Unfortunately the eggs were somewhat congealed. In the reception area a notice had appeared to advise guests that there would be music playing until midnight for a wedding. On the second morning we were awoken at 6.40am by a delivery of fresh fruit and vegetables to the kitchen and again there was a notice advising of music playing again until midnight for a function and a wedding. We did not eat in the hotel that evening. On the Friday evening we ate in the restaurant and the food was superb from the No.89 menu. On the saturday morning again the notice that there would be music playing until midnight for a wedding. At breakfast we were shown to a table which did not have cups saucers or plates, The table had not been wiped down from the previous occupants. When our pot of coffee was delivered to our table it was necessary to ask for cups and saucers. Very poorly organised.
It was just about average,

We stayed at the Oaklands on a Luxury Romantic Break in one of the Luxury Lodges. We arrived later than we hoped but the bottle of bubbly was still ice cold along with the chocolate coated strawberries. The Suite was nice and clean, fresh flower petals on the bed along with robes, slippers, a candle and essential oils. Everything that was promised, and all in good order. The bathroom was a good size with a wonderful shower and enough toiletries for an overnight stay.

We had £100 food & drink voucher included in our deal, and although the restaurant wasn't fantastic, it was pretty good and not overpriced. The rib eye steak at £16.95 was cooked to perfection and there was a good selection of wines. Breakfast was buffet, which is good as you can pick and choose. We were impressed with the sausages, they were real butcher sausages, not the nasty pink things you sometimes get.

Overall we had a lovely stay and think it was excellent value for money.

would like to say the stay in this hotel was very poor, even when i booked this stay customer care was not good at all, after booking the four poster room one month later i was sent a email saying i no longer could have this room because it was double booked, i was very upset with how long they had taken to tell me,and how i was told.with a couple of emails later i was informed i could have this room and have recantly had my stay the four poster bed was very disapointing very old and small and scuffy. and the tv in the room was so small you could only watch it if you were sitting right on top of it. and also the onsuite bathroom was very poor and it need for up dateing, the toilet pan had a stain on it witch needed bleach to get it off. The hole room needed a good clean. However i did stay for breakfast and i can say the rating was good.

Room Tip: never choose the four poster

We cannot thank Oaklands and Lauren for making our daughter Donna and New Husband James day such a special occasion everything was absolutely amazing good food excellent wine and very attentive staff.

The church ceremony was an hour away so timimg was very important, but once again Oaklands did us proud I would reccomend this venue to anyone.

The Marquee looked wonderfull and just as wre had hoped and lighting all the candels made it a spetacular vision on entering

The resident DJ was also excellent with something for everyone also entertaining the little ones for the early part of the evening

We stayed over night in one of the Lodges which was excellent and the following mornings breakfast was lovely.

The staff had kindly put everything together which we wanted to take home and although they had 2 weddings the following day we didnt feel rushed in clearing our decorations etc up.

Once again a big thank you to Lauren and her team and the oaklands for a wonderfull day

Staff to be complimented, pleasant, willing and prompt. Bedroom spacious and bathroom clean. Food was a special Menu for a Coach Tour. Each dinner menu was presented at breakfast for choices to be made. Breakfast choice from the English cooked breakfast buffet looked tasty. My choice of a daily special was, apart from one morning, really special, e.g. pancake with maple syrup and a slice of bacon and bagel with creamed cheese and smoked salmon, another morning. Much appreciated considering the reasonable cost of this Hotel stay. Only adverse comments I could make would be, T.V. sound a little too low and although I slept very well the mattress hadn't a lot of life left in it. I would go back!

Room Tip: if you have mobility problems discuss with hotel when booking. Some of my friends were booked into a...
