My wife and I visited on 12th July for dinner, the decor was inviting and the welcome warm, especially from Alfie the dog! The menu is extensive and there is also a specials board. My wife chose from the pasta bar and I had a mixed grill. Being a warm evening, we sat on the terrace whilst we waited to be shown to our table. The terrace overlooks a lovely garden and pond, with lots of wildfowl roaming around.

The dining room is beautifully decorated and the tables set out with ample room to move around and not have anyone knocking your chair as they get in or out. The tables are dressed in a contemporary style.

Our food was excellent. The pasta was served in a cream source and had a choice of three extras. My wife chose bacon, mushrooms and chicken with a side salad and this was lovely. My mixed grill had steak, Cajun chicken and black pudding sausage, along with hand cut chips, mushroom, onion rings, tomato and garden peas and was scrumptious! Both dishes were generous in size. We were glad that we hadn't had a starter - lots of choice - and had a sweet instead, both choosing the jam sponge with custard. Again, scrumptious!

Neither of us drink alcoholic drinks, so we cannot comment on the beers or wines, but there appeared to be a good choice of both.

All through our meal, the staff were courteous and attentive. Our host has been slated somewhat in a few other reviews. I can only offer one bit of advice and that is give as good as you get and you'll enjoy your dining experience as much as we did!

We will definitely be back and we recommend this establishment highly.

I suppose some customers like an owner who is sarcastic, but it's really not to our taste, and the rest of the staff are not a lot better. We only visit this Inn occasionally, and each time we are disappointed by some aspect or other - usually related to the staff, rather than the food. Being told to wait in the bar area, rather than being allowed to sit at our booked (and vacant) table, was not very welcoming, especially as we had to wait well past the booked time to even place our orders for food. Once you can overcome these difficulties, the food (by and large) is not too bad, although patchy as some of our party were happier about the quality than others. The dog remains very friendly.

There is always a warm welcome on arrival and the staff are very attentive without being overbearing. The menu is very comprehensive and competitively priced. Quality of food is excellent. We have lived in Norfolk for almost 6 years and regret that it is only recently that we have experienced what the Ugly Bug has to offer - it will be foremost in our mind now when we decide to dine out whatever the occasion.

Have just come back from a weekend staying at this fantastic Inn that has the added advantage of having a small number of bedrooms. This is the first time we have visited, and would recommend it highly to anyone in the area. Food is amazing and good value for generous portion size. Book in advance or you may well be disappointed!
