Laid back atmosphere, newspapers, excellent coffee and delicious cake = thoroughly enjoyable experience.
We only stopped for mid morning coffee but found the unusual range of cakes too much to resist. Fairly priced and cheerful service too.

I found a reveiw of 'house' on the fry up inspectors blog. It was a great reveiw and I thought I would try it out. The owners had only just taken over the cafe and we were given a warm welcome into a lovely retro/shabby chic environment. I had a fry up (superb) and my wife the eggs benedict (excellent). We took away some of their wonderful cakes on offer to enjoy at home. The tea served at 'house' was the loose leaf variety and it is a real difference to the flavour.
Summing up, I loved 'house' cafe. If you are in the area, make sure you stop off for a refreshment. The owners are a lovely couple with a great ethos and they both deserve to be successful.

House cafe has recently been taken over by new owners, the chef is a trained chef and baker and the woman at the counter also comes from a catering/hospitality background, and it shows. They bake their own ciabatta bread, which is a treat, and also sell really good cakes and pastries, macaroons, croissant, yoghurt cake, and pecan pie and carrot cake. We have tried the last two which were both outstanding, and plan to make our way through the rest of the selection! The place is tastefully done out with mismatched chairs, vintage crockery, a comfy sofa, toys and crayons for kids and good tunes. It's funky but not trying too hard and has a really nice feel about the place. Breakfasts include a delicious eggs ST!! Benedict with perfect poached eggs and divine hollandaise, their fry up has excellent tasty hash browns and great bacon & chipolatas from local butcher Spurgeons, on the vine tomatoes, all the really tasty good quality ingredients of a perfect fry up. They have lunch options, fish fingers sandwiches! And a good choice of quality teas and decent coffee.
I wish the owners all the best for their new venture and we will be regular visitors, they deserve for this place to a success......great staff & service from people who appreciate your custom, good friendly laid back atmosphere and excellent food....ticking every box
