Despite being worried about road noise being on busy street the room on the second floor afforded me an excellent night sleep with litter or no background noise. Use of city carpark is an excellent idea. Yes I would stay there again and recommend it to my friends.

Room Tip: Ask the staff they are very helpful.

Had such a lovely stay here at Duke Street! One thing to watch is the parking! When you turn into Duke Street you need to keep to the right hand side (as its one way) and that'll take you straight into the car park, then when you want to take your car out, reception stamp the ticket so its all free!!
Ate in the restaurant in the evening and had the new beef pie which was gorgeous! Staff are all so lovely and such an asset to the hotel. They do everything they can for you and small or big problems are made no problem!!
Really happy with everything and would definately stay again!
One other thing, I'm very fussy with my pillows and always bring my own but they now have a choice of soft or hard pillows in the room which is great!
Thanks Duke Street!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel, but ring up first to guarantee it as they sometimes are ful...

We have stayed in several Premier Inns and all have been excellent. However this is a cut above the others in many respects. The staff were all amazingly cheerful, helpful and welcoming. The room was huge, well equiped and comfortable. The bed is the usual wonderful massive very comfortable King with a choice of pillows. The curtains were balckout keeping the room dark as long as you want. The bathroom had lots of hot water in bath/shower and large towels. A real plus is the free parking they provide in the adjacent multi-level carpark. You just get your ticket validated at the reception and put it into the carpark machine before leaving. On your last day you can leave the car for up to 12 hours so you can go off and enjoy Norwich after checkout. The location is excellent - only about 10 minutes walk to restaurants and the central shopping area. We had a wonderful break - 2 great nights' sleep and loads to see and do in the city. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: Rooms on rear corridors of each floor are larger

We stayed for three nights with our adult son and agreed that the hotel is very clean and modern with many of the amenities of a four star hotel. Although not a beautiful old building in the pretty part of town, it is only two minutes walk south to 'The Lanes' which are very charming. Turn left out of the hotel and cross straight over St Andrew's Street into St John Maddermarket and you are immediately there at the northern edge of the old part. In the parallel Exchange Street there are branches of Cafe Rouge and Bella Italia which we found convenient dinner places on a wet night without walking far. There several more upmarket bijou restaurants around town such as the St John just across the road at the bottom of St John Maddermarket. We also ate in the hotel's own restaurant and had a good meal at a reasonable price. The staff in the hotel were always friendly and helpful, both at breakfast time and also at the reception desk. We were particularly pleased that there was a medium price for continental breakfast (with no hot food) and, if you wanted the cheapest a very low price for just croissant and coffee. At the medium price (which I think was £5.75) we could have fruit juice, cereals, fruit salad, toast and tea or coffee. The room had a large bed (no collisions in the night) and was well appointed with tea and coffee making equipment, hair dryer, two sorts of pillow if needed, but no frills such as bottles of shampoo and tablets of soap, though the wall-hung dispensers at the side of the basin and the shower had two types of Cussons liquid soaps. The only major and we assume temporary disappointment was that none of the five BBC TV channels were working due to a problem with the aerial on the roof. We are not certain if this is something to do with the recent national retune-ing of TVs, but we were told that the hotel is waiting for a 'cherry picker' platform to go up to the roof to fix the problem. However, when we mentioned this to the reception desk, the hotel manager phoned us in our room and having apologised he said he would refund us the cost of one night's stay which we thought was a very generous offer. As we are keen arts lovers and fans of BBC 2 and BBC4, it was sad not to see some of our favourite programmes in the evening, but Premier Inns have restored our faith and we would certainly stay here again. This particular branch is directly under the control of Whitbread and is not one of the company's franchised branches.
As regards things to see and do in Norwich we kept to the obvious places such as the wonderful Cathedral where we recommend the new
Refectory restaurant, the Castle Museum (don't miss the extraordinary collection of hundreds of teapots) and the Sainsbury Arts Centre at U.E.A. The last of these is more of an ethnographical museum of objects from around the world, each displayed in free standing cabinets so that you can view them from any angle. The Building (by Sir Norman Foster) is extraordinary. You can also see a permanent collection of 'Art Nouveau' objects and for the moment a temporary exhibition of Japanese characters including 'Hello Kitty' !! On route from London we stopped in Wymondham to see the Norman Abbey which consists of just the huge nave of the original abbey plus a truly stunning early 20c altar reredos which is truly amazing. Our other trip was to Blickling Hall, about 15 miles north of Norwich just off the Cromer road. The outside of the house is amazing and there are lovely gardens with hidden parts for children to discover. So, all in all we had a good three days despite the weather.
