The Whalebone is always a welcoming pub with great beers available and the best pork scratchings IN THE WORLD served in a pint or half pint mug.
It doesn't have he traditional feel of the old city pubs but it's a lovely environment that is always spotless, the chap who runs it is very friendly as are all his staff.
They put on beer festivals and BBQ's and all sorts of stuff throughout the year.
They have an excellent rear garden that during the day is full of sunshine. It is obviously the smokers area so you do need to be prepared for that. But there's also benches to the front and side of the property where you can sit and watch the people go buy.
There's always a lot (maybe 8 or 9?? Not sure) of beers readily available and normally at least two or three you've never heard of so it's great to try new beers.
This is a very dog friendly pub as the pub owner has a beautful black Labrador who comes and makes sure you're a respectable human as you arrive. He REALLY likes pork scratchings!!
All in all one of my favourite Places to meet my partner as we both HAVE to go passed it on the way home. Two or theee pints in the sun or by the fire over winter. Lovely old job.

We do try to offer a quality out of Town experience at The Whalebone for all of our customers and are always appreciative when people take time out to confirm that we do just that.

Excellent pub really great lovely ales on offer bar staff really friendly and helpful the bar it's self is excellent and the pub is quite large inside plenty of room and very comfortable.There is also a heated terrace which is brilliant and a private function room which can be hired (I was attending a friends party here) all in all a great pub with a proper traditional feel
