Booked an executive room which gave the impression of being a bigger room with several added amenities.Sadly none of these were evident and within five minutes of being in the room we were ringing room service to put things right, not a great start.Surely the room is checked before being handed over.Hotel is a business hotel and this comes across in everything it provides.Seemed understaffed as everything was laboured.Breakfast is a help yourself affair and no direction was given by the waiting staff. With a little polish and a change of direction (at weekends at least) this could be a great hotel.Pricing a little high.Sadly the room was next to the lift shaft and quite noisy.

Thank you for your review and constructive feedback.
My team have been made aware of your comments; I regret that we have given you cause for dissatisfaction, and trust you will accept our sincere apologies. Having just received an International Award in recognition of our customer service and quality standards, I’m pleased to say my colleagues will take action as a result of your comments and ensure that future guests are given a more polished performance. I naturally have stayed in several of our rooms in varying locations throughout the hotel, to qualify I trust the guest experience, and have found this hotel to be one of the quietest I have had the privilege to manage. The sound proofing together with your positive rating of our cleanliness are commented on very positively by our guests.
Thank you once again for your review.

Couldn't recommend this hotel enough.

My husband and I stayed two nights at the hotel for the Portsmouth vs Norwich game and used the Superbreak offer of two nights stay, full english breakfast and dinner for one night.

The staff were incredibly friendly, from the receptionists to the cleaning staff, everyone always greeted us with a friendly smile. The style of the hotel was really funky and our rooms were clean and fresh. Food was great and not too expensive and same with the drinks and prices in the hotel were about the same as Portsmouth generally , (which made a nice change from some hotels!). Breakfast was okay, perhaps not the best but I think that's more the problem with buffet style cooked breakfasts than the fault of the hotel and it was kept well stocked up through out breakfast .

It's location was great, really close to the Riverside Complex which impressed us with it's deals for match ticket holders, even us away fans, on food. It was an easy walking distance to the castle and shopping and right opposite a Morrison's, JJB etc. Obviously being right on the corner of the stadium it was perfect for the game and we were both impressed with the supply of coffee and pasties that the hotel offered to everyone, not just hotel users, before the game. Which created a really nice atmosphere.

If we can we will definitely be back next year for another break ( and hopefully another football match!)

This is a very modern hotel attached to the Norwich City football ground. We checked in quickly to our room on the 4th floor which afforded us excellent views over the football pitch. Shame there was no match being played during our stay has we could not have had a better view. Our bedroom was furnished to a very good standard with ample wardrobe and drawer space available. Samsung Flat Screen TV`s in the rooms.
We enjoyed a pleasant dinner in the hotel restaurant in the evening. There are two alternative restaurants available at the ground - Yellows restaurant and Delia`s restaurant. A Parking Fee of £4.95 per night is charged to the hotel bill.
There is an excellent selection of leaflets available in hotel reception highlighting the many tourist attractions in the region.
We enjoyed our stay in this hotel and would definitely return if visiting the city.

I've now stayed at this hotel a few times on business since completing my first review. It's a safe choice for business travellers. It's just round the corner from the train station , but a longer step to the City Centre. It's adjacent to a newish shopping development, so it's handy to be able to pop in to Morrisons, Boots etc when you have forgoten or need something.
The staff are helpful and the whole place is bright and cheerful. Room service was prompt, but the tray charge is ridiculous. Taxi ordering, replacement of failed key card, replacement of desk lampbulb were all carried out with due efficiency and courtesy.

I have a few small gripes - the evening bar snack service was a bit chaotic on a couple of occasions and needs some more attentive management and direction. As is common with breakfast buffet operations, the food can get a bit dried out if not checked regularly and there does seem to be a problem with getting this right, particularly with the fried eggs!

Thank you for choosing to stay at the Holiday Inn Norwich whilst visiting Norwich.
I have ensured your review has been circulated to my colleagues as is our normal practice.
I have also previously commented on the room service tray charge in past reviews, I’m pleased that we were able to efficiently replace the bulb to the work desk light.
We have recently changed the management in the Restaurant and Bar mid November and believe his will add further to our service, and in turn that of breakfast also. Once again thank you again in confirming our service levels to other business users.

Good rooms but the hotel is new.
Baths are too small.
Breakfast is nothing special in a fairly cramped area.
Food is bland and over-priced.
Key cards fail too often.
Can't drink in your room when football matched are on.
Room service has a £4.50 charge, Crowne Plaza London only charge £2.50.
Room upgrades for Priority Club members are very rare.
No pool, sauna etc.

Thank you for you review of the Holiday Inn Norwich City, and your comments which may be used positively for our guests in the future.
As stated in previous reviews, the provision of alcohol service to Rooms facing the football pitch is governed by authorities outside the control of the Holiday Inn Norwich City.
The Room Service charge of £4.50 is charged throughout our hotels under our ownership throughout the UK, many hotels including our own throughout IHG are able to set charges in line with their market or ownership.
I regret that you have not had the opportunity of a room upgrade, as these are given to specific levels of Priority Club members, at the Holiday Inn Norwich City we enjoy a very high level of Priority Club members and repeat guests, with a limited number of rooms available to upgrade to, regrettably and understandably we cannot always meet this request.
I’m pleased that your review of breakfast has not been shared with the previous two reviews, and in the majority both breakfast and food service has been complimented, naturally when the numbers of guests are high we use table seating in the lounge area to add further choice to seating at breakfast, this is received well with space to spread the morning paper and enjoy the variety of the breakfast menu, which include dishes from fresh smoothies of the day, eggs benedict to the old favourite of boiled egg and soldiers, many of these one will not find at hotels in the city.
Thank you for noting the relative age of the hotel, irrespective of our 3½ years of operation a lot of time and effort goes into maintaining a fresh and inviting look.
As with all systems there are occasions when we’ll not always get it right, and there may be some failings for which we do apologise, this can be frustrating for everyone concerned, I know my team will always endeavour to minimise any discomfort to our guests.
In that vein I’m extremely pleased and proud that we have recently received 3 awards in as many weeks, IHG Quality Excellence, one of twelve Holiday Inns throughout the UK, Service Excellence from Tripadvisor 2010, and a Five Star award in Food Hygiene from Norwich City, all confirming the good work and daily efforts of my colleagues at The Holiday Inn Norwich City.
I trust that when we will be able to welcome you back to The Holiday Inn Norwich City we will meet you expectations where able, Best regards

very nice, clean welcoming hotel. The bar area is nice but the suprising bit was the breakfast. there is so much choice from fruit to pastries to a full english. The cooked breakfast portions are huge so don't book lunch that day as you won't need it! Also, this hotel is the only hotel I have ever been in that put soya milk out by the cereal. That was a great suprise.
We used this hotel to visit our child at nearby UEA and we will definately stay here again next time.

You may be excused for thinking that Holiday Inns are impersonal and cold, with off-hand staff, but if this is what you find, the Holiday Inn, Norwich City certainly bucks the trend. As soon as we arrived the reception manager, Lucy, greeted us with a warm smile and our room keys. She was very helpful throughout our stay, as were the rest of the staff.

This HI is only c.3 years old and as such is in a good state of decoration, trendy, but cosy. It is part of the stadium of Norwich City FC and on home fixtures the restaurant and reception gets very busy and it is not advisable to leave the hotel when the crowds are dispersing. But ... if you are lucky enough to get a room facing the pitch and enjoy football, then your ship has come home! If not, you can just see the pitch from the end of the corridor!

The rooms are large, big beds, spacious bathrooms with shower above the bath. Lovely white linen and towels and all the usual accompanyments. Walls are solid block, so it is very quiet at night. Air con/room temp. is controlled by setting the desired temperature on a rather too small display near the door.

We had a restricted, tourist, menu, which was rather disappointing, but nonetheless the food was excellent. Breakfasts are buffet style with everything from continental to full English, four fruit juices, etc. No complaints here! Our waiter was exceptional, James, I think. He spent time with us, explaining Norwich and even provided maps! Top man, well done.

The location is not inner city and is a reasonable walk, up-hill, into the town. A bus service does pass nearby, though and is also very close to the railway station. A pleasant walk along the river Wensum will bring you close to the Cathedral.

Top marks to all concerned at the Holiday Inn, Norwich City!

Thank you for your recent review, I’m pleased that both James and Lucy received recognition for their efforts. I know this will both please and motivate them further.
I’m grateful for your comprehensive review which will be I trust help to guests in the future. Our Breakfast product is currently being rolled out through our Kewgreen Hotels and has been met with good reviews to date.
Naturally with the location of the Hotel pre and post matches are busy, with a renowned reputation of hospitality the atmosphere on match days is both welcoming and positive.
I trust it will not be too long before we can welcome you back to Norwich in the future.
