Having stayed and used this hotel/restaurant before, I think it is time to share my thoughts with the wider TripAdvisor populous. This restaurant is so bespoke it is very hard to pin it to a food genre (which seems to be a common way of sorting restaurants nowadays). You have to experience the very polite and close service you get to appreciate how good this place is. It all adds to a great experience and the food, well, what can I say except by using superlatives such as "Brilliant", "Excellent", "First Class" etc.! The menu may not be extensive, but it is chosen with care and does change on each visit. This is top draw dining without the stuffy/snobbiness or over-inflated prices.! Access is easy, with space for parking.

My husband and I booked The Old Rectory on the recommendation of a friend. We were very pleased that we did. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we felt very welcome, well looked after and comfortable. Drinks in the lounge with a log fire, the most delicious five course meal really well prepared and presented ending with coffee back in the lounge. The service was excellent finding that balance of being unobtrusive yet friendly. The attention to detail included lots of little touches to make it truly romantic. Thank you to Chris and his staff, we will certainly recommend this hotel to our friends and we will be back.

Really nice dining room, nicely lit, spaced tables not too close together. Felt like home. Could not fault it.

The fact that the menu was changed each evening was a bonus. The service was efficient and friendly. One did't need to go any further to find the most delicious food.

We went for a Friday night dinner to celebrate an anniversary, and found the host charming, the staff friendly and helpful, the setting cosy and relaxed, and the food excellent. Highly recommended.
