“A splendid hideaway for two!”
Reviewed 26 July 2017 for a stay in May 2017

My wife and I booked this retreat for our May Day Bank Holiday weekend for us to walk the Yorkshire Three Peaks.

Boy, did we land lucky! An unassuming gateway leads down a short gravel track to this perfect little hideaway. OK, so you can't park right outside the door, but the owner provides you with all the advice you need for parking nearby - and it is only a 5 mins walk if you use the cut-through, and you can offload the car at the roadside for a few minutes before moving your car.

The cottage is ideally located: almost bang on the centre of town, but with none of the associated noise, as the previous reviewer noted. Less than a two minute walk and you are in the centre of the town.

It is clear the property has been recently re-developed - but not in a bad way! Everything was pretty much brand new and sparkling on our arrival, and the 'treats' awaiting our arrival were very much appreciated! Now this is how to welcome guests to your holiday property!!! Others take note please!

The owner also took time to pop out from his house to check out all was OK as we and other guests arrived. Near enough to be helpful if we needed it, but not so close that you feel overlooked or inhibited in any way. John even took the time to text us the following day to check we were happy with everything and to give us more tips for a comfortable stay.

The cottage itself is compact, but again, not in a bad way. It is definitely only for two people but has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The bed is superbly comfortable, and the decent shower very welcome after 11 hours walking the nearby Three Peaks.

With a log-burning stove and ample supplies, evenings were superbly relaxing.

Any criticism at all? Well, a number on the outside of the door would help for idiots like me who didn't properly read John's very clear instructions as to which holiday cottage door was ours! Next time we will know for sure!

We would have no hesitation in returning and/or recommending this property - please though folks, just don't book it for when we want to return...!

Clean very presentable up to date apartment. Ideal for one or two adults to share. Lovely peaceful environment, just off the main street, but hidden away from any traffic noise. Highly recommended.
